These efforts will foster innovation in green technology," the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion said. Commerce and Industry Ministry's green manufacturing advisory committee (GMAC) has cleared seven proposals for acquisition of clean technology and solid waste management. These proposals were considered under the Technology Acquisition and Development Fund (TADF) Scheme. "A total of seven proposals, under the categories of acquisition technology, clean technology in manufacturing and solid waste management, were considered and approved by the GMAC under the scheme. These efforts will foster innovation in green technology," the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion said. TADF was set up for acquisition of appropriate technologies including environment friendly technologies; creation of a patent pool and development of domestic manufacturing of equipment used for controlling pollution and reducing energy consumption. Listing out its major achievements during April-July 2016, it also said said ICT consultants for Dholera Special Investment region have been appointed in May, who will design the systems and define service level agreements. This region is being developed under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project. "Mass Rapid Transit System project between Ahmedabad to Dholera is being implemented so as to provide last mile connectivity to the region. The Detailed Project Report has been finalised and approved by Gujarat," it said. Further, a Logistics Data Services Project is implemented by DMIC Development Corporation that will integrate information with various agencies across supply chain to provide detailed real time information in a single window. It said during this period, the ministry has given approval to establishment of Mega Leather Cluster in Andhra Pradesh with a central government assistance of Rs 125 crore. The Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) offers huge opportunities to Japanese investors as the project is at an implementation stage, a top government official today said. Secretary of the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) Ramesh Abhishek also said FDI reforms are expected to result in dramatic improvements in ease of doing business over the next one year. Work has already started in areas, including Dholera, Aurangabad, Vikram-Udyogpuri and Greater Noida nodes, where land allotment is expected to begin in a couple of months, DMIC Development Corporation (DMICDC) said quoting the secretary. Abhishek was addressing a delegation of Japanese businessmen and representatives of government institutions at a special workshop organised by DMICDC here. Japan has been one of India's leading partners in infrastructure development, supporting projects such as the Delhi Metro, the Dedicated Freight Corridor which forms the backbone of DMIC, and the proposed Mumbai- Ahmedabad Hi-Speed Rail Link. Speaking at the event, Ambassador of Japan Kenji Hiramatsu hoped for time- bound implementation of the projects. He is optimistic that the Indian government will extend incentives to Japanese businesses relocating to the industrial zones. DMICDC CEO and MD Alkesh Sharma saw opportunities for Japanese companies in not just setting up industries, but consultancy and engineering procurement construction, among others. Besides the industrial cities along the corridor, the DMICDC is working on standalone projects such as green field airports in Dholera (Gujarat), the futuristic Global City in Gurgaon (Haryana), Logistics Hubs in Dadri (UP) and a state-of-the-art convention centre in Dwarka. Takema Sakamoto, the Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency's India Office, made a presentation on JICA's support for the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor. The USD 90-billion DMIC project is aimed at creating mega industrial infrastructure, along the Delhi-Mumbai Rail Freight Corridor, which is under implementation. Japan is providing financial and technical aid for the project, which is developed on either side of a 1,483-km stretch running across seven states.   • Classification of Indian Musical Instruments with the General
    Classification of Indian Musical Instruments With the general background and perspective of the entire field of Indian Instrumental Music as explained in previous chapters, this study will now proceed towards a brief description of Indian Musical Instruments. Musical Instruments of all kinds and categories were invented by the exponents of the different times and places, but for the technical purposes a systematic-classification of these instruments was deemed necessary from the ancient time. The classification prevalent those days was formulated in India at least two thousands years ago. The first reference is in the Natyashastra of Bharata. He classified them as ‘Ghana Vadya’, ‘Avanaddha Vadya’, ‘Sushira Vadya’ and ‘Tata Vadya’.1 Bharata used word ‘Atodhya Vadya’ for musical instruments. The term Atodhya is explained earlier than in Amarkosa and Bharata might have adopted it. References: Some references with respect to classification of Indian Musical Instruments are listed below: 1. Bharata refers Musical Instrument as ‘Atodhya Vadya’. Vishnudharmotta Purana describes Atodhya (Ch. XIX) of four types – Tata, Avnaddha, Ghana and Sushira. Later, the term ‘Vitata’ began to be used by some writers in place of Avnaddha. 2. According to Sangita Damodara, Tata Vadyas are favorite of the God, Sushira Vadyas favourite of the Gandharvas, whereas Avnaddha Vadyas of the Rakshasas, while Ghana Vadyas are played by Kinnars. 3.
