Through this recognition, the University is carrying out its responsibilities as defined in its mission of producing graduates who are prepared for lifelong learning and who are prepared to be contributing, highly productive citizens and leaders. Tolbert is a Chattanooga, TN native and the daughter of two loving parents and the eldest of three of sisters. She is a Junior, Biochemistry Major and is extremely involved on campus as the Student Government Association President at Claflin University. Additionally, she is a children’s book author. Her recent accomplishments include researching at Brown University and Hunter College of CUNY through The Leadership Alliance. Most recently, Jessica has been awarded the opportunity to conduct chemistry research in Graz, Austria for the upcoming 2018 summer term. Thus far, Jessica has held many leadership positions but being the Student Body President has given her the opportunity to explore leadership on a larger scale. She is an avid learner and continuously seeks ways to evolve into an exemplary visionary leader. She plans to attend graduate school to obtain her PhD. She enjoys laughing with friends and exploring new things. Her challenge to all is to never settle for mediocracy but to continually evolve. “Individual self-awareness is critical in the forward motion of a people.” 4 I. President’s Honor List (Bronze, Silver, Gold) The President’s Honor List includes academic high achievers in two categories: Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors whose cumulative grade-point average reflect superior academic achievement: Bronze Medallions (With Honor), 3.50-3.69 Cumulative G PA; Silver Medallions (With High Honors), 3.70-3.99 Cumulative GPA; Gold Medallions (With Highest Honor), 4.0 Cumulative GPA.
