As a parent I choose to be involved in my children's education because I love them just that much and more. I want to make sure that I am involved in as much as I can to protect them and to do what is in the best interest of all children who needs a voice. How do you hope to advance the mission of FLCS by serving on the board? I hopeto advance the mission of FLCS by inspiring parent, students and facility as well as board members how important it is to focus on the needs of our students and to bring anything new or awareness to the school that will help build the child and make the school to more successful. What do you see as your greatest strengths, and what positive additions can you bring to this board? My greatest strengths are communication, coachable and teachable. I bring diversity to the board as a parent. Allowing them to hear from the parent's perspective what we are seeking for our children. Also being a liaison for the parents and the board. Some times it takes a middle person to bring things together to make thing work much smoothly and with a better understanding. Please provide one example of something you feel FLCS is doing well. Also, what do you consider to be the most important issue for the school to focus on in the immediate future? Felton is doing well at building a better structure environment for the children as well as making the school feel safe. They are also doing well preparing the children for testing. Felton needs to continue to focus on the getting our children on test levels and focus on getting Felton back to where they use to be. I am a Felton graduate from 8pre school to the 8th grade. Class of 81. I now have a grandson aswell as other family members that still attend this day. How do you hope to advance the mission of FLCS by serving on the board? I am a resident of orangeburg county. I mentor students from schools on career day. My roots my almemateor that I attended and cherish is the only school I'm not visiting. I would like to think I was preparing myself for this moment. What do you see as your greatest strengths, and what positive additions can you bring to this board? Small business, business management and development. Political views of the county,state. (Political science) A over view of the science of business instead of business management Please provide one example of something you feel FLCS is doing well. Also, what do you consider to be the most important issue for the school to focus on in the immediate future? Communication. There was a situation with my grandchild and it was resolved within the day. Being home grown with roots in the community. Hoping for continued service. The reason why I would like to serve on FLCS Board is to simply help improve student achievement across the board. I have experience with serving on different boards so I do understand the importance for a school to have a strong school board with members that will have the students as a priority. I have a passion for education and I believe that education is the key for students to be successful in today's society. How do you hope to advance the mission of FLCS by serving on the board? I hope to advance the mission of FLCS by bringing innovative ideas that focuses will focus more on STEAM. Also to help create a better community to student pipeline for involvement outside of the school. This acclimates the students and community with each other to help broaden the student options when it comes to career choices and goals. What do you see as your greatest strengths, and what positive additions can you bring to this board? Some of my greatest strengths is my ability to communicate and working with others to achieve a common goal. I understand the positive impact of a cohesive team. Some positive additions that I can bring to this board is having experience with serving on multiple boards. I will bring a young and energetic voice. I believe in respecting others opinions and listening to what people have to say. Please provide one example of something you feel FLCS is doing well. Also, what do you consider to be the most important issue for the school to focus on in the immediate future? FLCS is doing a superb job with putting the needs of the students and parents first. I've have had the opportunity of participating with Career Day and Read Across America, that's a great example of how the school has put the needs pf the students first. The most important issue would be finance restructuring and enrollment. Another issue is consistency as far as administration with keeping key leaders in place. I feel that it is important to focus on improving or enhancing technology so that all students can have access to virtual educational processes. The Chair of the Board, Regent C. Thomas Hopkins, Jr., called the meeting to order both days. Present, in addition to Chair Hopkins, were Vice Chair James M. Hull; and Regents C. Dean Alford; W. PRESIDENT’S PRESENTATION At approximately 10:11 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017, College of Coastal Georgia President Gregory Aloia welcomed the Board of Regents and guests to the institution, and gave a presentation showcasing the school’s programs, students, and culture.

    Ms. Jean-Didier Gaina August 1, 2016 Offce of Postsecondary Education U.S. Department of Education 400 Maryland Avenue SW, Room 6W232B Washington, DC 20202 RE: DOCKET NUMBER ED-2015-OPE-0103 Dear Ms. Gaina: As the Executive Vice President of Monroe College, I write regarding the proposed Defense to Repayment Rule (“Rule”) as published in the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on June 13, 2016. At Monroe College, we have consistently championed an approach to higher education that focuses on: • Student outcomes across all institution types • Constructive policies that encourage and permit responsive actions from institutions that positively impact students • Transparency in data and process Our comments on the Rule focus on two areas: • A concern that the proposed Repayment Rate Warning does not adequately protect or inform students and refects a fawed approach that jeopardizes the entire Rule • Risks stemming from an overly broad Borrower Defense Framework will lead to unintended consequences that harm community colleges, HBCUs, and other institutions that provide access to underrepresented students For 83 years, Monroe College has consistently produced some of the best outcomes in the country for urban and low-income minority students. We have one of the highest graduation rates and one of the lowest default rates for the populations we serve. We are proud of the recognition we have earned as a model for increasing student access and the resources we allocate to student support services, including fnancial literacy, student loan counseling, remediation and career services. Given that Monroe is located in the poorest congressional zip code in the country, we are a laboratory for many of the great higher education policy debates, particularly those that relate to access for minorities and low-income students, graduation rates, student debt, college readiness, or employment outcomes.

You are in good company, and I am delighted to help you begin your journey into the remark- able profession of medicine. Professional school study is a time of exploration and immersion in your desired specialty. It is a time for the free exchange of ideas, acquisition of new skills, and creation of knowledge. It is a time when faculty will change from being your teachers to being mentors and colleagues. Morehouse School of Medicine was founded in 1975 as the Medical Education Program at Morehouse College. In 1981, Morehouse School of Medicine became an independently chartered institution and the first established at a Historically Black College and University in the 20th century. Our focus on primary care and addressing the needs of the underserved is critical to improving overall health care. During the course of my career, I have had the privilege to work in several other major health sciences centers, and I believe our faculty is second to none. Our faculty and staff are commit- ted to exceptional teaching, research, and patient care. We will never lose sight of the respon- sibility to guide, support, and teach. Morehouse School of Medicine has graduated many med- ical students over the years, and we remain the leading educator of primary care physicians in the United States. Our medical school is inextricably linked to our principal teaching hospital, Grady Memorial Hospital, and several affiliates: The Atlanta VA, WellStar Atlanta Medical Center, and Chil- dren’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

    PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Feb.13, 2020 CONTACT: Teesa Brunson, Ed.D. | [email protected] | (803) 376-5724 Allen to host 3rd Annual Preserving the Legacy Conference (Columbia, S.C.) – Allen University will host the 3rd Annual Preserving the Legacy of HBCUs Conference: “Birth of a Nation” on February 18 from 8:15 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Chappelle Gallery. The keynote speaker for the conference is former South Carolina House of Representative and current CNN political analyst Bakari Sellers. Sellers made history in 2006 when he defeated a 26-year incumbent State Representative to become the youngest member of the South Carolina State Legislature and the youngest African American elected official in the nation at 22 years old. Sellers earned his undergraduate degree from Morehouse College. The conference will serve as a working workshop that will function as an incubator between sister HBCUs and stake-holding organizations. The goal of these collaborations is to produce concrete, generationally-impactful initiatives designed to sustain HBCUs into the 21st century. Current HBCUs participating include Claflin University, Benedict College, Florida A&M University, Johnson C. Smith University, North Carolina A&T State University, North Carolina Central University and Shaw University. The registration fee is $45, which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.
