I think we’re all fairly familiar with the Leechpit on Weber by the flyers around campus and its strange, mannequin lawn ornaments. If you’ve yet to venture in because of the rumored vagina shaped dressing room, I encourage you to muster some shopper’s courage and explore the quirky shop. While the dressing room rumor is actually true, what owner Adam Leech calls the “dressing womb,” it’s worth it to see what eclectic merchandise the Leechpit has to offer. If your regular stomping grounds include Salvation Army and garage sales you may experience some sticker shock, but the prices generally match the goods. Adam is a picky consignment store owner and only accepts unique and vintage items, resulting in an impressive collection including cardigans, sweaters, boots, leather jackets, t-shirts, pins, records and even old-school action hero sheets. Despite the Chargers having won eleven straight coming into the game, the Jets managed to pull out the victory. To add to the hurt for the Chargers, quarterbacks that they drafted have won two out of the last three Su- per Bowls (Drew Brees and Eli Manning). San Diego never gave LaDainian the championship that he worked hard for, so will pursue finding a place that will. He says he plans on playing three or four more seasons before retiring. It is clear that Tomlinson is no longer able to be the featured back he once was. After years of dominance, he now looks slow and unintimi- dating. The only part of his game which he has still been effective is short-yardage situations. He can also throw the ball every once in a while. In his NFL career, LT has thrown seven TDs on 12 pass attempts. This offseason, the Chargers will look to pursue a RB to compli- ment 5’ 6’’ Darren Sproles. For the second straight year, Brian West- brook was hindered by injuries all season. During his last healthy year in 2007, Westbrook went All-Pro and topped the league with 2,104 yards from scrimmage, leading his team in both rushing and receiving yards. This year, two concussions ended his season. However, after a career he looks to play for a team in 2010. Many teams have already expressed interest in the Eagles all-time leader in yards from scrim- mage. The release of Brian Westbrook will clear up $7.5 million of salary cap space for the Eagles. They simply didn’t feel it was worth it to pay Brian that large sum of money when he is so injury-prone. LeSean McCoy will be the No. 1 back for the Eagles starting next season, al- though they may pursue additional backs. The most intriguing part of the Eagles offseason will be their quarterback situation. Some think that QB Donovan McNabb is over the hill, and should be let go. Backup QB Kevin Kolb has filled in very well when given the opportunity. Also, the Eagles’ situation with QB Michael Vick could play out in a number of ways. In his first season back from serving time in prison, Vick only impacted a few games. His most memorable moments came in his return to Atlanta when he scored 2 TDs, and his 76-yard playoff TD pass. The Eagles may keep his as a utility player, cut him, or trade him away to teams looking for a quarterback. It may be tough for Thomlinson and West- brook to continue to be effective backs this season, as they are both 30 years old, a signal that a RBs career is near over.
