1. ACNE TREATMENT

To enhance treatment, use Jin Yin Hua Face Wash daily and Xiao Overview Cuo Mian Mo face mask 2-3 times a week.

Jin Yin Hua Face Wash (Honeysuckle Wash) Use daily to wash affected areas on the skin before using other creams, gels or masks.

Ji Xue Cao Gao (Cream) DAY TIME Apply 2-3 times a day to affected area. Since its not coloured its (All Skin Types) particularly suitable for lesions on the face and neck. Fei Zi Shui (Gel) Apply several times a day to affected skin. Xiao Cuo Mian Mo (Cleanse & Clear Face Mask) Use this face mask 2-3 times a week, leave on for 15 minutes before washing off.

NIGHT TIME Both Dian Dao Shui Gao & Fei Zi Dian Dao Shui leave a yellow Overview mark on the skin that can be washed off in the morning.

Dian Dao Shui Gao (Gel) Apply to affected area and leave on overnight. Dry & Xue Cao Gao (Cream) Combination Skin Apply 2-3 times a day to affected area. Since its not coloured its particularly suitable for lesions on the face and neck.

5. ECZEMA (DERMATITIS) TREATMENT

Patients with Eczema tend to vary in their response to different topical products, and are very sensitive. If a patient is not getting the desired result from a particular topical product, they should try another one from the list. There are several different types of Eczema but for most types of Eczema you can follow the differentiation below. 5.2. DAMP HEAT Red, Swollen, itchy, eroded, weepy or crusted lesions. Overview

5.4. SUB-FORMS

5.4.1 ATOPIC ECZEMA Differentiate according to the three main morphological Overview subtypes. (See under main title of eczema).

5.4.3. HAND Two main types of hand eczema exist: ECZEMA Pompholyx and Fingertip. Overview

Blistering dermatitis of the palms, sides of fingers, and POMPHOLYX sometimes soles of feet. ECZEMA This dermatitis typically has two phases: first the blistering phase, then after a week or so the dry phase manifests.

San Bai San (Powder) Empty the contents of a packet of powder into a bowl of just Blistering Phase boiled water and stir. Steam the affected area over the bowl - this will help reduce the itching. When the liquid is cool enough, soak the affected area for 15–20 minutes.

Zi Cao Shui Gao (Cream) Gan Cao Shui Gao (Cream) Most useful for atrophied skin caused by damage to hands from Dry Phase long term use of topical steroid, which is the common treatment in Western Medicine. Run Zu Shui Gao (Cream) Most useful for hypertrophic thick skin of palms or soles.

Hot Inflamed Areas Shi Zhen Shui Gao (Cream)

FINGERTIP Dry and fissured skin of fingers and occasionally palms. Unlike ECZEMA most dermatitis, this type is not usually itchy or red.

This is a nummular (well defined) round or oval dermatitis typi- cally seen on the limbs and body. 5.4.4. LIP ECZEMA Most types are Damp Heat (blistering) though Dry Hot types also occur. Once the condition is in resolving stage, it becomes Dry Blood.

Shampoo S (Shampoo) Wash hair with this shampoo 3-4 times a week. 5.4.6. SCALP ECZEMA Run Fa You (Oil) Apply to scalp at night (2-3 times a week) and cover with shower cap. Wash oil off in the morning.

5.4.7. Most types are Hot & Dry and will present with dry, red and scaly SEBRRHOEIC skin. DERMATITITS Occasionally Damp Heat types are seen, presenting with weepy, crusty and eroded skin, often intertriginous areas are affected Overview (armpits, groins, below the breasts in women).

Wu Shi Gao (Ointment) All Types Once absorbed apply: Zi Cao Shui Gao (Cream)

This type of Eczema (Dermatitis) is secondary to varicose veins 5.4.8. and is seen typically around the inner shins. If not treated in a STATSIS ECZEMA timely fashion it can develop into ulcers. Overview As with most Dermatitis three main forms exist (Differentiate according to three main morphological subtypes).

6. FUNGAL & YEAST INFECTION TREATMENT

San Bai San (Powder) Pour boiling water onto the contents of one sachet of San Bai San and stir. Then first steam affected area (this will help to reduce itching). When liquid is cool enough, place affected area in the liquid and soak for 20-30 minutes. Do this twice a day. 6.1. HAND & FOOT (Athletes Foot) When blisters are dry, use: Cu Pao Fang (Vinegar soak) Blistering Types Soak for 15-20 minutes a day (you can re-use vinegar soak over a period of 2 weeks or so, but make sure to pour it back into the bottle and seal firmly)

Then Apply: Ti Xuan Gao (T Ointment)

6.3. ECZEMA COMPLICATE WITH Shi Zhen Gao (Ointment) FUNGAL INFECTION

Cu Pao Fang (Vinegar Soak)

After soaking the nail for 15 minutes, apply either: Feng Hua Gao (Ointment) or Ya Dan Zi You (Oil) After application of either of the above, occlude the nail with a 6.4. NAILS water tight dressing (cling-film/saran wrap). Leave on for 24 - 48 hours before removing, then clean the nail (cut off as much of the fungal nail as possible without injuring the nail bed or surrounding tissue), then repeat the procedure. Continue until the nail is clear.

A yeast infection typically affecting the upper back and chest. 6.5. PITYTIASIS It may be brown or white in colour with fine scaling, VERSICOLOR accompanied by mild or no itching.

7. LICHEN PLANUS TREATMENT

Four main morphological sub-types of Lichen Planus:

7.1. Lichen planus of the skin – Papular form (not mouth) Overview 7.2. Scalp Lesions (Lichen Planopilaris) 7.3. Pigmented 7.4. Hypertrophic forms (typically thick lesions on shins)

7.1. LICHEN Hua Jiao Ding (Tincture) PLANUS OF THE SKIN Apply to affected area then apply: (PAPULAR FORM, Huang Lian Gao (Ointment) or Hu Zhang Shui (Gel) NOT MOUTH)

Hua Jiao Ding (Tincture) 7.2. SCALP LESIONS Apply to affected area then apply: Huang Lian Gao (Ointment) or Hu Zhang Shui (Gel)

7.3. DRY SKIN Zi Cao Shui Gao (Cream)

Hei Bu Yao Gao (Thick Ointment) 7.4. If the Ointment is hard (for example in winter time), place jar in HYPERTROPHIC hot water to partially melt the ointment. Apply product to FORMS affected area and allow to form a skin (it will form a black film). Wash off and reapply every 24 hours.

9. LICHEN SIMPLEX TREATMENT

Apply to affected area whenever there is a desire to itch. Do not expose treated area to sunlight.

10. MELASMA & CLOASMA TREATMENT

This common condition that mostly affects women. It is typically characterised by dark patches of skin on the cheeks, forehead Overview and chin When it occurs in pregnancy it is called “mask of pregnancy”.

12. PSORIASIS TREATMENT

Most cases of psoriasis can be divided primarily into two main types:

12.1. Active Type (Hot Blood) 12.2. Resolving Type (Dry Blood) Overview Two other types that are less commonly seen in practice are:

12.3. Hyperkeratotic (thick skin) type of the hands & feet 12.4. Pustular (pustular lesions on a red background) type of the palms and soles.

95 % of cases of psoriasis are hot type.

12.1. ACTIVE TYPE Despite the fact that the topicals for psoriasis are strongly (HOT TYPE) pigmented and leave some blue-black discolouring of the skin, this washes off easily and the results makes the minor inconvenience worth it.

Bai Bi Gao (Ointment) Use at night. After application of the ointment, occlude the area NIGHT TIME with cling film/saran wrap. This will increase the absorption many fold and prevent the ointment from rubbing off on sheets. Body Lesions Very rarely occluding the skin in this way will lead to red, itchy, sore skin - if so, apply the ointment without occlusion or if redness is pronounced discontinue it use and rather use an topical alternative such as E Zhu Gao or Bai Bi Shui Gao.

Face And Scalp Bai Bi Gao (Ointment) Lesions Bai Bi Shui Gao (Cream)

In the very rare case that presentation is Erythrodermic Psoriasis (Red, very widespread lesions, covering 90% of body, NOTE actively growing red lesions) do not use Bai Bi Gao or Bai Bi Shui Gao in such instances, but rather treat topically as Resolving Psoriasis.

13. ROSACEA TREATMENT

Jiu Zha Ding (Tincture)

DAY TIME Apply first, allow to dry naturally and then apply: Jiu Zha Shui Gao (Cream) Apply twice a day to affected area.

Dian Dao Shui Gao (Cream) Use at night in active phase if pustules are plentiful. NIGHT TIME Fei Zi Dian Dao Shui (Gel) Apply to affected area and leave on overnight.

14. SCAR TREATMENT

Qu Ba You (Scar Oil) SIMPLE Apply 2-3 times a day

Hei Bu Yao Gao (Thick Ointment) If the Ointment is hard (for example in winter time), place jar in hot water to partially melt the ointment. Apply product to keloid KELOID scar and allow to form a black film. After 24 hours, wash off and reapply.

15. URTICARIA TREATMENT

16. VIRAL INFECTIONS TREATMENT

These conditions include: 16.1 Common Warts Overview 16.2 Verruca 16.3 Molluscum Contagiosum 16.4 Herpes Simplex and Herpes Zoster

Ya Dan Zi You (Oil) Apply a drop or two to the warts and occlude with a strong tape 16.1. such as duct tape. After 24 hours, remove the tape and wash off COMMON WARTS the remaining oil, scrub off the loose skin and then re-apply. Repeat this process daily until the warts clear (usually 2-4 weeks).

Ya Dan Zi You (Oil) 16.2. MOLLUSCUM Dip a wooden toothpick into the oil and use it to prick the largest CONTAGIOSUM papule.

Yu Xing Gao (Ointment) 16.3. HERPES Use 2-3 times a day on all stages of Herpes Simplex, whether SIMPLEX blistering, eroded or dry.

Re Dai Chuang Gao (Ointment) 16.4. HERPES Use 2-3 times a day on all stages of Herpes Zoster, whether blis- ZOSTER tering, eroded or dry.

17. VITILIGO TREATMENT
