By February I was assured, correctly as it turns out, that I would feel that I was on the home stretch. My job has been made much much easier by all the help I have had from my colleagues on the Council and I want to say a big thank you to them all. BURNS SUPPER It is now barely a month to go before I hand over to my successor, Arlene in the traditional way at McMaster. I am delighted that she is to be our new President. She has given so TAPTON HALL much to the Society for well over thirty years. Arlene has always been an active, with excellent speakers, hands-on member, contributing hugely to the success of so many of our activities. Her programme for next year will give us just the right mix, from the excellent entertainment fun of the "Night at the Dogs" to interesting visits and talks. The first is Hugh Porteous who has been a stalwart of the Dance Group for decades and has led them for the last decade. He is retiring to Scotland and I would like to acknowledge the role he has played in the Group, one of our strongest and longest running activities. The second is the Rev Robert Beard who will be known to many through his Pastoral Ministry at St Andrew’s and later, Church and who has been a good friend of ours. He too is moving away and I would want on behalf of the Caleys to wish him well for the future. crazy golf; ten pin bowling; I also want to look to the future.
