PINES ELEMENTARY TEACHER SHOWS APPRECIATION FOR ESSENTIAL WORKERS Michele Giachetti, Third Grade teacher in Pines Elemen- tary School, has been actively showing the essential work- ers in her community and surrounding areas, much appre- ciation for all their tireless efforts on the front lines. What started out as a small act of kindness from her and her local frisbee team (the 3 Village Mother Flickers) of about 16 women, turned into something so much bigger. This group of women have donated over 100+ meals to not only various units at Stony Brook, Mather and St. Charles hospitals, but their efforts have reached even the local “es- sential” workers at BJs, Trader Joes, City MD, Brentwood S.D., North Babylon S.D., all local food pantries, assisted living facilities, local supermarkets, fire departments, etc. She was even contacted by a former Hauppauge gradu- ate, Frannie Bisono, who is a nurse, on the night shift, at Stony Brook Hospital. The team provided heroes and pizza Maggie for dinner to thank the usually forgotten night shift work- Giachetti ers. This all wouldn’t have been possible without the vast amount of donations they’ve received, from not only family and friends, but many Hauppauge Community faculty members. Michele said, “ Many people wanted to help out in some way and when they heard what we were doing, they immediately wanted to do- nate and give thanks.” What started out as a collection from just her team members to support local heroes, turned into a few thousand dollars within a month. Michele was also featured on the local radio station 105.1 with Steve Harper. He suggested they make their private frisbee Facebook page public to attract others to donate and see all the efforts they’ve put forth. Her team is organizing a “Frisbee-A-Thon” on Sun- day, May 24th, Memorial Day weekend. All pro- ceeds will help to continue their efforts to support those forgotten. If you would like to check out her team’s Face- book page, please go to “3V Mother Flickers.” You can also make a donation Michele if at all interested. Giachetti Thank you, Michele, and your team, for all you do for your community! The Three Village Frisbee Team NOW, A WORD FROM EAGLE WATCH
