Founded as the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference in 1989 and rechristened the East Coast Conference in July 2006, the ECC was formed to enhance intercollegiate athletic competition among member institutions and to assist them in integrating athletics into their academic program in a fiscally sound way. The ECC is committed to the highest standards of scholarship, sportsmanship, teamwork, and citizenship. Its mission is to promote the total person concept in its student-athletes, which stresses the abilities to excel in academic achievement, athletic competition, and positive character traits.

The ECC is a proud member of the NCAA and Division II, a dynamic and engaging group of colleges, institutions and conferences of varying sizes and educational missions. Division II members encourage and support diversity; value sportsmanship, fairness and equity; and place the highest priority on the overall educational excellence of the student-athlete. www.ECCSports.org

12 UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAVEN WOMEN’S LACROSSE 2008 NCAA DIVISION II

“I would have never dreamed of being as satisfied with my choice of a college as I am now. What originally drew my attention to this university was the opportunity to be a member of the women’s lacrosse and cross country teams. The academic offerings and opportunities sealed my decision to attend UNH because I knew that here I would actually be a person with a name rather than just a number. I wanted to be able to have a close relationship with my fellow students and athletes, the teachers in my major, and the staff that I interact with on a day-to-day basis. I like walking around and seeing friendly and familiar faces rather than people that I do not recognize or have any connection to. Division II offers an even balance between athletics and academics, while also allowing free time for other activities. I could not picture myself being happier anywhere else. I chose UNH. I chose Division II.”

-Kristine Lambracht, sophomore
