They felt that leadership volunteers are hard to replace and people do not know enough about the roles that leadership volunteers play in community. Our thanks to Tammy Dewar from Calliope Learning who spent a day with our Board of Directors revisiting our strategic plan. The committee developed basic questions to stimulate discussions and to encourage the revelation of the many volunteer journeys that the Volunteers participants experienced. An on-line survey was sent resulting in nearly 100 responses. Five focus group sessions were held with a total of 45 participants. Eight individuals were interviewed and shared their volunteer journeys. This project captured the knowledge, experiences, and lessons learned of a range of diverse seniors who play leadership roles in community as board and committee members, project leaders, mentors, Strategic Goals committee chairs and a myriad of other lead roles. I was attending the Wellness Programme at Royal Jubilee Hospital – it’s an out-patient service for people suffering from mental health issues.
