Do the following tasks on a Macintosh computer: • Create a new folder in the Dr. Pan's Class Folder (inside the Macintosh Harddisk folder). • Rename the folder with your name. • Personalize the folder with your picture. Double-click the image file to display the file with Simpletext program. Select the portion of your head by dragging the mouse and select copy from the Edit menu. Go to the Application menu at the top right hand corner and choose Hide Simpletext . Find the folder with your name and click at it once. Select Get Info from the File menu and the Get Info box appears. • How was the picture created? The picture was created with a video camera and Apple Video Player . • Where was your picture? The Picture is stored on the File server. • How can I get to the File server? The File server is to be changed in the near future. In the meantime, the following steps will lead you to the file server. Choose Chooser from the Apple menu. Click Appleshare. Click TCNJMacNet. Click LIBARTI. *Click Login. Enter the computer ID (on the screen) to get into the system. Leave the password blank. Click OK. Select Libart1.vol1. The Libart1.Vol1 will appear on the desktop. Double click the icon, and select Labdata and continue to open until you see the file you need to retrieve. • How can I retrieve a file from the File Server? Locate the file and retrieve the file by dragging it to the desktop. (Hold the mouse button down and drag the file icon to anywhere at a blank spot on the computer screen.) • What is a file? A file is a document which can be a text or a graphics document. What is an application program? An application program has the function that allows you to interact with the computer to create documents or incur actions. The following are some types of application • Where is the Application menu? What is the function of an Application menu? The icon at the top right-hand corner is for the Application menu. All the currently loaded applications will appear here. You can switch between applications. You can also choose to hide 1 an application from the display. You can load as many applications as your computer memory can tolerate. The more memory your computer has, the more applications you can load. • How can I run a quick slideshow with PICTShow program? Drag entire class picture folder to the desktop. Drag the PICTShow program to the desktop. Double-click the PICTShow program. Select Add a folder and choose the class folder. Specify the settings for the slides. Click on Run button. • What is your email address? Write down your login user ID and password. To copy a file from hard disk to the floppy disk, drag the file from hard disk to the floppy disk icon. To copy a file from the floppy disk to the hard disk, hold down the option key while dragging the file icon from the floppy disk to the hard disk. • How can I eject my disk? Drag the disk icon to the Trash can. (This is the best way.) Tasks: Find the Simpletext program. Make a copy of the program. (Select Duplicate from the File menu.) Rename the program with My Application. (Click at the file name once and type over.) Put the application into your folder. Drag a copy of the file to the floppy disk. Make a duplicate of the file on the floppy. Drag this extra duplicate back to your folder on the hard disk. Delete the duplicated application. (Drag it to the Trash can and select Empty Trash from Special menu.) 3.
