THE JUNIORLEA 1GUEOF ~SAN FRANCISCO Mission Statement: The Junior League of San Francisco, Inc. (JLSF) is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. FocusArea: Every 5-7 years, members of the JLSF vote to determine the focus area that guides our direction and decision-making with regard to financial and volunteer resources. Our current focus area is advancing the social and emotional well being of youth and elderly in San Francisco. Vision: Since its inception in 1911, the JLSF has provided the community with an estimated six million volunteer hours and more than $24 million through direct community grants, advocacy, and membership training and development. As a problem surfaces within the community, the JLSF is frequently the first organization to recognize and address the issue, providing volunteer energy, financial assistance, and public support. Often in collaboration with other community groups and/or the public sector, the JLSF designs and launches a program, then works to achieve community impact and measurable results. • nnua a1re This event was supposed to be a night of shopping and sipping among friends - a festive way to support local makers while raising vital funds for the League's community partners. There would have been decorations, music, hors d'oeuvres, and a huddle of volunteers exhaustedly drinking it all in. Lots of things were supposed to happen this year, but we've spent 2020 modifying, maneuvering, pivoting, recalibrating. The buzzwords are endless, but they all amount to change. Strange, uncomfortable, wild change. Which is why we're so proud to present a taste of the familiar ... with a twist. By trading hosting duties for hyperlinks and decor for dotcoms, we've tapped into unlimited fundraising potential at a time when our community needs us most. In years past, the constraints of a physical venue meant we were limited to featuring just two-dozen vendors. Now, by going virtual, we're able to shine a light on 61 (yes, 6-1 !) phenomenal merchants, all generously donating 15% of their sales to support the League's mission (more about that on the next page). It would've been delightful to gather and celebrate the many months of hard work and creativity that got us here. We look forward to sharing that moment with all of you someday. In the meantime, we hope you'll invite friends and loved ones (near and far) to join you in supporting this year's Faire - because amidst all the change, the simple act of holiday shopping still has the power to change lives. As we finally pause to drink it all in, know that we're wishing you and yours health, safety and joy in the year ahead. The 20-21 Special Events Committee 1.
