  • Parish Registers and Transcripts in the Norfolk Record Office
Parish Registers and Transcripts in the Norfolk Record Office This list summarises the Norfolk Record Office’s (NRO’s) holdings of parish (Church of England) registers and of transcripts and other copies of them. Parish Registers The NRO holds registers of baptisms, marriages, burials and banns of marriage for most parishes in the Diocese of Norwich (including Suffolk parishes in and near Lowestoft in the deanery of Lothingland) and part of the Diocese of Ely in south-west Norfolk (parishes in the deanery of Fincham and Feltwell). Some Norfolk parish records remain in the churches, especially more recent registers, which may be still in use. In the extreme west of the county, records for parishes in the deanery of Wisbech Lynn Marshland are deposited in the Wisbech and Fenland Museum, whilst Welney parish records are at the Cambridgeshire Record Office. The covering dates of registers in the following list do not conceal any gaps of more than ten years; for the populous urban parishes (such as Great Yarmouth) smaller gaps are indicated. Whenever microfiche or microfilm copies are available they must be used in place of the original registers, some of which are unfit for production. A few parish registers have been digitally photographed and the images are available on computers in the NRO's searchroom. The digital images were produced as a result of partnership projects with other groups and organizations, so we are not able to supply copies of whole registers (either as hard copies or on CD or in any other digital format), although in most cases we have permission to provide printout copies of individual entries.

  • Surgery Newsletter October 2015
Mattishall & Lenwade Surgeries Surgery Newsletter October 2015 Mattishall Surgery celebrates 50 years at 15 Dereham Road The practice moved to its current location from South Green premises in 1965 so this year we cel- ebrate 50 years at the same site. The surgery was built by J. Wright and Co and designed by archi- tect R. C. Burgoine for Dr Thomson and Dr Houl- ston, and was reportedly one of the first purpose built surgeries in Norfolk. Over the years the building has been extended and modernised many times, the most recent addition being the Gwen Fish suite which was completed in 2008 and was part funded by a bequest from a patient via the charity which supports the practice , The Mattishall & Lenwade Surgeries Equipment Fund. Since then, further reconfigurations of the dispensary and pharmacy services have taken place but little scope remains for extension. A possible re-location of the premises looks to be the only way that services can be further developed and expanded in the future. The partnership has evolved over the decades and seen service from Drs Hughes, Hodge, Webb and is currently led by principle partner Dr Hywel Jones in partnership with Dr Liz Jones and Dr Jo FitzGerald. We would like to hear from any patients who have information about the history of the practice or anecdotes about the doctors that could be published in a future edition of the newsletter. Please contact Emma Edwards or email information to [email protected] Further information about the charity is available by contacting Claire Warman.

Next meeting planned various parish councils for 18th August 2020.(Virtual) Item 1 - Connecting North Tuddenham – Lyng - Hockering at Poppy Wood Issues Without a connection from old Main Road in North Tuddenham into Hockering using part of existing A47, there will be no direct route between two villages. Points raised • Traffic counting measures requested to quantify problem • T - junction to slow down HGVs • Speed limits - 40 mph preferred to 50mph. New houses on Main Road • Exiting Fox Lane on flyover - visibility • HGV traffic - direction / strategy wrt new NWL. Strategy to dissuade HGVs from cutting through from Industrial zone and Fakenham Road to exit here to Swaffham and beyond. • Potential opportunity for bus route from Dereham through Etling Green, North Tuddenham and Hockering into Norwich Minutes from Meeting No traffic surveys undertaken to date. Requests for the T-Junction to impede speeds of HGV traffic is still proposed in the plans at the present; James to advise Mike if subsequently removed.

Introduction 1.1 The Mattishall Parish Neighbourhood Plan is a community-led document for guiding the future development of the Parish. It is the first of its kind for Mattishall and a part of the Government’s current approach to planning. 1.2 The Plan has been developed under the Localism Act (2011) and the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulation (2012), which was introduced to regulate the formation and approval of Neighbourhood Plans. 1.3 The Plan has been developed in general conformity with the National Planning Policy Framework 2012 (NPPF), which sets out the Government’s planning policies for England and how these should be applied. Locally, the ‘Core Strategy and Development Control Policies Development Plan Document’ (2009) sets out strategic planning polices for Breckland. These have informed the development of the Mattishall Neighbourhood Plan. Due regard has also been given to the emerging Breckland Local Plan (Breckland Council 2015) which is expected to be published in 2017. The Local Plan will be in place from 2017 and will supersede Breckland Council’s existing Core Strategy. Figure 1: Planning policy hierarchy in relation to Mattishall’s Neighbourhood Plan. 1.4 The Neighbourhood Plan is about the use and development of land over the next 20 years.
