Reflections on the Joachim and Petra Heidrich Papers in the Leibniz-Zentrum Moderner Orient Arch THEMATISCHERessource Titel/Title: Urdu books and pamphlets in the Ahmadiyya Mosque, Berlin Jahr/Year: 2021 Erstellt von/ Razak Khan Compiled by: Quellen/ Landesarchiv Berlin Sources: Beschreibung The list contains the Urdu books and pamphlets found in the library and /Description: storage room of the historic Ahmadiyya mosque, Berlin, during spring of 2019. There exist various writings on the history of the mosque and its famous converts to Islam. However, these writings rely on German sources without considering the rich vernacular Urdu archives of books published and circulated by South Asian Ahmadis. Apart from the mosque’s own German journal Muslimsche Revue started in 1929, there are also copies of Islamic Review published in English from London and Review of Religions started by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad in 1902. The English magazine was printed in Lahore and also published from Qadian, Punjab, alongside an Urdu edition. Many of these publications in Urdu were also sent to the Mosque in Berlin. Thus, connection across national and language boundaries appears an essential aspect of these Urdu books and pamphlets. While attention has been paid to German archives, this list documents and highlights the value of Urdu materials found in the mosque collection. Although in vernacular language, these writings represent a global History of Ahmadiyya Islam between South Asia, Africa and Europe. A study of these pamphlet titles and contents reveals the archives of Annual reports published by Ahmadiyya Anjuman-e-Isha’at-e-Islam, Lahore documenting the association's activities. There is also an Urdu translation of the landmark Ahmadiyya Are Muslims. The Verdict of the Supreme Court of South Africa, 9.8.1986. Srinagar Kashmir: Nagina Printing Press, 1986. This judgment was widely discussed and popularized through the Urdu print culture in Lahore, Delhi, Bombay, Kashmir, Dushanbe, Newark, and California. Many of the texts listed here are about clarifying misconceptions about Ahmadiyya, introducing Ghulam Ahmad and other beliefs and writings by Ahmadiyya missionaries including Muhammad Ali. Others include texts and publications of various missions including the Berlin mosque. There is also a translation of writings of converts to Ahmadi Islam. The connecting thread in these publications is not just religion, theological and sectarian concerns but also interaction, circulation and exchange of information among various Ahmadi missions globally. Thus, a small vernacular Urdu archive provides insights into the global intellectual history of Ahmadiyya Islam in Berlin mosque library. • Surah Al-Anfal Tafsir – Nouman Ali Khan Lecture Notes
بسم هللا الرحمن الرحيم Surah Al-Anfal Tafsir – Nouman Ali Khan Lecture Notes Introduction and Verse 1 The introduction of this Surah is quite long but it is significant and very important to set the stage for what is about to follow. This is part of a series of surahs – Surah Anfal and Surah Taubah. This surah is related to the previous surah (Surah A’raf) in that they both talk about the ‘Sunnah of Allah’ (Sunnatillah). It talks about how Allah deals with similar Nations in the same way. It is mentioned in the Qur’an: [This is] the established way of Allah with those who passed on before; and you will not find in the way of Allah any change. [33:62] In the second half of Surah A’raf, Allah talks about the worldly destruction of nations and people that came before, specially the people of Musa and the destruction and drowning of Fir’awn and in Surah Anfal Allah will talk about the destruction of the people of Makkah (NOT the entire Arabian Peninsula). The Makkans here will be destroyed and defeated by the very swords of the believers – the army behind Rasulallah (s). It is not going to be fire from the skies, not a flood or an earthquake but the companions themselves. Part of the Sunnah of Allah is that punishments usually come down in two different forms: 1. Smaller punishments are sent as warnings before it is too late for example the nine signs of Musa(as) 2. Eventually the greater and major punishment is sent down for example the drowning of Fir’awn.

The Role Of The Women In Fighting The Enemies [Please note: Images may have been removed from this document. Page numbers have been added.] By the martyred Shaykh, Al-Hafith Yusuf Bin Salih Al-‘Uyayri (May Allah have Mercy upon him) Introduction In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Most Merciful Verily all praise is due to Allah, and may the Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family and all of his companions. To proceed: My honoured sister, Indeed for you is an important and great role; and you must rise and fulfill your obligatory role in Islam 's confrontation of the new Crusade being waged by all the countries of the world against Islam and the Muslims. I will address you in these papers, and I will prolong this address due only to the importance of the topic; [a topic] that is in need of double these papers. So listen, may Allah protect and preserve you. The Muslim Ummah today is suffering from types of disgrace and humiliation that cannot be enumerated; [disgrace and humiliation] that it was not familiar with in its previous eras, and were never as widespread as they are today. And this disgrace and humiliation is not a result of the smallness of the Islamic Ummah or its poverty - it is counted as the largest Ummah today, just as it is the only Ummah that possesses the riches and elements that its enemies do not possess. And the question that presents itself is: what is the reason for this disgrace and humiliation that the Ummah suffers from today, when it is not in need of money or men? We say that

  • 7 Mirza Ghulam Ahmad
7 Mirza Ghulam Ahmad In 1530, the last year of the Emperor Babar’s reign, Hadi Baig, a Mughal of Samarkand, emigra- ted to the Punjab and settled in the Gurdaspur district. He was a man of some learning and was appointed Qazi or Magistrate over 70 villages in the neighbourhood of Qadian, which town he is said to have founded, naming it Islampur Qazi, from which Qadian has by a natural change arisen. For several generations the family held offices of respectability under the Imperial Government, and it was only when the Sikhs became powerful that it fell into poverty. Gul Muhammad and his son, Ata Muhammad, were engaged in perpetual quarrels with Ramgarhia and Kanahaya Misals, who held the country in the neighbourhood of Qadian; and at last, having lost all his estates, Ata Muhammad retired to Begowal, where, under the protection of Sardar Fateh Singh Ahluvalia (ancestor of the present ruling chief of the Kapurthala State) he lived quietly for twelve years. On his death Ranjit Singh, who had taken possession of all the lands of the Ramgarhia Misal, invited Ghulam Murtaza to return to Qadian and restored to him a large portion of his ancestral estate. He then, with his brothers, entered the army of the Maharaja, and performed efficient service on the Kashmir frontier and at other places. During the time of Nao Nahal Singh and the Darbar, Ghulam Murtaza was continually employed on active service. In 1841 he was sent with General Ventura to Mandi and Kalu, and in 1843 to Peshawar in command of an infantry regiment.

Twenty-seven people were killed at the Baitul Nur Mosque in the Model Town area of Lahore; 67 were killed at the Darul Zikr mosque in the suburb of Garhi Shahu. The Punjabi Taliban, a local affiliate of the Pakistani Taliban, called the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility. On the night of May 31, unidentified gunmen attacked the Intensive Care Unit of Lahore’s Jinnah Hospital, where victims and one of the alleged attackers in Friday's attacks were under treatment, sparking a shootout in which at least a further 12 people, mostly police officers and hospital staff, were killed. The assailants succeeded in escaping. “The mosque attacks and the subsequent attack on the hospital, amid rising sectarian violence, underscore the vulnerability of the Ahmadi community,” said Ali Dayan Hasan, senior South Asia researcher at Human Rights Watch.
