Redmon, Texas A&M University, Central Texas Regional Coordinator: Katherine Downey, The Hockaday School 7:00-9:00: NABPR SW Region 8:30-11:00: AAR FILM SCREENING AAR: Arts, Literature, and Religion A Screening and Discussion of “Privilege” Moderator: Marc DiPaolo, Oklahoma City University Directed by Peter Watkins and starring Paul Jones and Jean Shrimpton, “Privilege” (1967) is a mockumentary about a disillusioned pop star manipulated by church and state into becoming a messianic leader. What seemed like outlandish speculation in 1967 - the control of the masses through popular culture and celebrity endorsement -- now seems too close for comfort.
