Sponsorship Opportunities - - Your Branding at the Show BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF GREATER MANCHESTER NABGC Boxing Championships Class D Finals - Sponsorship Prospectus 2018 Gorton Monastery - Thursday 29th November 2018 THE NABGC BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS The National Association of Boys & Girls Clubs Boxing Championship is recognised by the boxing community as one of the most prestigious competitions. It is certainly one of the most long-standing having been organised for over 100-years. In 2017, our championships attracted almost 2,000 entries across four age categories and culminated in four national finals, with competitors from as far afield as Plymouth, Cardiff, Bristol, London, Manchester, Liverpool, Yorkshire, Durham and Northern Ireland - it is the only UK-wide Youth Boxing Championships. Former competitors in the NABGC Championships include Ricky Hatton, Tyson and Hughie Fury, Amir Khan, Prince Nasseem, John Conteh, and many more. It must be pointed out that they didn’t all necessarily win the NABGC Championships, such is the quality of the competition. A new innovation in 2017, saw NABGC live streaming our final, hosted by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Manchester. With minimal publicity about the stream done via Facebook, the event was viewed by almost 50,000 people and there was a social media reach of over 250,000 people. We think this presents a great opportunity for companies and organisations to promote their brand and products, but also their values and social concern, by supporting local grass-roots, voluntary Boys & Girls Clubs and Boxing Clubs, of which there are over 2,000 supported by the members of National Association of Boys & Girls Clubs. Please read further on in this document to find out how you can sponsor this prestigious Boxing championships. THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF GREATER MANCHESTER & NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS? The National Association of Boys & Girls are a voluntary sector youth charity providing positive, life transforming programmes of activities for young people and essential help, support, advice and encouragement for thousands of volunteers who serve in the most deprived communities in our country. Currently, through our established network of twenty members we reach over 100,000 young people and support around 15,000 volunteers in over 2,000 youth clubs. We provide a range of positive educational and recreational activities for young people, such as competitions, taster events, challenge and residential experiences. We also offer training, support advice and networking opportunities for the volunteers that keep our clubs going. This work has been taking place across the UK for over a century. Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Manchester have been in existence for 110-years with their oldest members, Stockport Lads Club, club clocking up 130-years of service to the community in 2019. Collyhurst and Moston Lads Club Boxing Club celebrates 100- years this year and Norbrook Youth Club in Wythenshawe celebrates it’s 60th birthday in 2018 The Boys & Girls Clubs movement has a rich and successful history, both locally and nationally. The national and local organisations, work in tandem wo help young people grow and progress beyond their physical, geographical and emotional boundaries. This helps them to become positive members of the their local community and good UK citizens, who lead positive, happy and fulfilled lives. The National Boxing Championships is a vital and treasured part of that history and the work we continue to do. We hope you can support us in continuing our work, by sponsoring our activities. How I Got The Job at Adidas Combat Gear When I initially heard about adidas Combat Sports USA, it was through my friend Jeff Chu, a local photographer and videographer. He had taken on a job as part of his freelance career and since I had recently been laid off from a magazine I was working for, decided to tag along. "It's all about the networking in this business," Jeff said. And it is. Because I tagged along, I met ACS President Scott Viscomi and five months later had a job as a blog editor of this website. Before Scott had taken on the task of creating some of the best gear in the combat sports industry, the adidas logo had entered the realm of jiu-jitsu competition when I was only a white belt years ago. Or at least that's the first time I had seen it. The gis that were created then were more cut for a judo competitor, with short sleeves and stiff material. It wasn't pliable, equipt to move along with a jiu-jitsu athlete while playing spider guard or butterfly guard, or passing guard and taking the back. Somewhere along the line, before I ever saw an adidas gi again, the design changed. It was in new hands. As I walked into Church Street Boxing in Lower Manhattan, it was a lot different from the jiu-jitsu academies I'd trained in for six years. In the middle of the main room was a raised boxing ring and all around it were walls covered in mirrors and old photographs and fight posters.

18 Established 1961 Sports Sunday, April 5, 2020 Photo of the day NFL could move 2024 Super Bowl due to Mardi Gras NEW ORLEANS: The NFL is considering moving the 2024 Super Bowl out of New Orleans due to potential conflicts with Mardis Gras that emerged with the pending expansion to a 17-game season. New Orleans, which was awarded Super Bowl LVIII during a meeting in 2018, would not lose the game entirely, but rather have it pushed back a year or two. No decision has been made. The game is scheduled for Feb. 4, but that date was set with a 16-game NFL schedule. If a week were to be added to the schedule, the game would be played on Feb. 11 — presenting a conflict with Mardi Gras begin- ning on Feb. 13. “The New Orleans Host Committee, led by the New Orleans Saints and Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, has remained in close communication with league officials about the change to a 17-game regular season, as it relates to the city hosting Super Bowl LVIII in 2024,” Saints vice president of communica- tions Greg Bensel said in a statement on Friday. “During the bid process in 2018, it was contemplated and discussed of the possibility of an extended sched- ule based on a new CBA. The Bid Committee, the New Orleans Saints and NFL worked together to build in contingencies if a potential conflict with Mardi Gras should affect the Super Bowl date. “Mutually agreed upon terms during the bid process granted assurances that the NFL and Host Committee would explore all options for still hosting the game in 2024, or, agreeing to host the Super Bowl in a future year when the citywide calendar permits.” The 17-game schedule, per terms of the new collec- tive bargaining agreement, will be installed as the norm sometime between 2021 and 2023.

SHAWN PORTER: IT IS “SHOWTIME!” Shawn Porter is the current IBF Welterweight champion, and he is very aware the boxing community focuses the majority of their attention on the current Ring, WBA, WBC, and WBO Welterweight champions (Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao). “Showtime” Shawn Porter is putting in the work, and biding his time to make sure the world clearly knows - it is Shawn Porter’s time. It is “SHOWTIME!” At an early age, Kenny Porter gave his son the nickname “Showtime.” Kenny Porter got the name from Cleveland fighter Jeffery “Showtime” Stoudemire. Stoudemire left a lasting impression on a young Kenny Porter, who watched as Jeffery Stoudemire played the role of protector, shadow boxed, and willingly showed Kenny Porter boxing moves. Kenny Porter took an interest in boxing, and began going to the gym. His first coach, Clint Martin, was also Jeffery Stoudemire’s coach. Stoudemire would move on to become a National AAU champion and ready himself to turn pro, which allowed Kenny Porter to experience one of the most endearing moments in his young life: “I remember going to the gym and looking at this tall locker. Jeffery was the only person with his name on a locker and it said, “Showtime.” That just stayed with me as a little boy looking up to this big locker and this tall, strong, muscular guy who was a champion. When Shawn turned three or four years old, I started calling him Showtime!” At 24-0-1 (15 KO’s), “Showtime” Shawn Porter is coming off one of the most impressive title defenses in the history of boxing.
