Despite having to save more than £180 million from our budgets over the last five years, we are tasked with making further savings. In 2017 we must find a way to spend Councillor Simon Henig, £29 million less than in 2016, even though Leader of the Council demand for our services continues to rise. 24 Over the last five years we have found a variety of ways to innovate and to provide services more efficiently. But each year it becomes harder to find savings and not affect frontline services. So, this autumn, as we start to think about budgets for 2017, we are coming back to you with a set of new savings proposals and asking for your views. 16 Your feedback will drive our vision for the next three years and guide us as we set our budgets.
