Scope and Content: Records of the Athletics Club contains documents collected and created by the Cal Poly Athletics department. Records include statistics reports; promotional programs, media guides, and press releases; team rosters and player files; newspaper clippings; and materials related to the 1960 plane crash involving the Cal Poly football team. Both male and female sports teams are represented including football, baseball, basketball, soccer, gold, gymnastics, swimming, track and field, wrestling, and sailing as well as the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women and the NCAA. Administrative and budgetary records, records related to the stadium construction, and correspondence of the dean of the department are included.
Arrangement: The collection is arranged as it was received. Original organization of the records has been preserved where possible. Materials may have been reorganized or rehoused for preservation and access purposes.
