2. Introduction of the project: 2.1. Identification of Project and Project proponent:

The Divis Laboratories Limited established in the year 1990, with Research &Development as its prime fundamental, Divis Laboratories focussed on developing new processes for the production of Active Pharma Ingredients (APIs) & Intermediates. The company in a matter of short time expanded its breadth of operations to provide complete turnkey solutions to the domestic Indian pharmaceutical industry.

Divi's Laboratories Limited is proposing for Non production activies under Modernization of Unit-II as a commercial facility for manufacturing of APIs & Intermediates products with a firm commitment to Environmental care. This manufacturing facility as Unit-2 is existing plant located at Chippada Village, Annavaram Post, Bheemunipatnammandal, Visakhapatnam. This manufacturing facility is Non Production Activies under modernization unit to be developed.

2.2. Breif Description of nature of the project:

The production and manufacturing process of API’s and Intermediates involves various raw materials, where chemical reactions will take precipitation, substitution, addition,

Page 2 of 21 Pre-Feasibility Report for Modernization of M/s. Divi's Laboratories Limited (Unit - 2) -- Bulk Drug Unit at Chippada and Annavaram Villages, Annavaram Taluka, Bheemunipatnam Mandal, Visakhapatnam District, Andhra Pradesh

centrifugation, purifications, solvent recovery etc. The layout of the Non Production Activies under modernization project is shown below

2.3. Need for the project and its importance to the Country and or Region:

In the Indian sub-continent population growth is more than that of developed countries. To meet the needs and comforts of ever-growing population industrialization became inevitable. For the growing population the needs of health care substitutes are also increasing.

2.4. Demand – Supply Gap:

Divi’s Laboratories Limited Unit-2 has intended to develop and manufacture intermediates for many MNC customers by undertaking contract research work for them. The project is envisaged to meet the demand supply gap in both domestic market and export market, as API demand is increasing day by day.

2.5. Imports vs. Indigenous production:

The project shall meet to reduce the imports in some of the intermediate products and also enhance the foreign exchange reserves in view of the proposed exports of few products.

2.6. Employment Generation (Direct and Indirect) due to the Project.

The present project for manufacturing of Synthetic Organic Chemicals – Bulk Drugs &Intermediates requires substantial handling of raw materials, goods in process and finished goods. It is expected that the following employment will be generated by the project:

S.No Designation Exisiting 1 Offices 232 2 Superrvisors 3443 3 Ministerial Staff 56 4 Technical Works 378 5 Skilled Workers 3007 6 Unskilled workers 710 Total 7826 Note: No change in manpower after modernization.

4.5. Soil Clasification:

Soils are at the heart of the Earth s critical zone, the thin outer veneer between the top of the tree canopy and the bottom of groundwater aquifers that humans rely on for most of their resources. Soil is a vital part of the earth and also important to plants. It also helps for agriculture and farmers for planting crops. It shows and records human activities from the past. Soils are nonrenewable resource, formed at the rate of 1 inch every 250 to 1,200 years

under most conditions. The soil present within the study area is Red in color with Sandy Loam texture. The soil derived from the existing basement rock Khondaliteby the process of weathering & erosion.

4.6. Climatic Data from the secondary Data:

4.6.1. Climatic Condition:

Summer season in Visakhapatnam it spans from the month of April to June. The maximum temperature may shoot up to 40°C and Average of 36°C. In spite of this, summer is usually Sunny and evenings are pleasant. Monsoon Season usually get railfall fromthe South West monsoon between July and October. However, these showers are light to moderate. Winter season from the month of November to February. The temperature during this season might drop to 15°C.

4.6.2. Rainfall:

The average annual rainfall of the district is 1116 mm. and monthly rainfallranges from nil rainfall in January to 207.5 mm in October. October is thewettest month of the year. The mean seasonal rainfall distribution is 673.5 mm.in southwest monsoon (June- September), 271.8 mm. in northeast monsoon(October-December), 10.9 mm. rainfall in Winter (Jan-Feb) and 159.6 mm insummer (March – May). The percentage distribution of rainfall, season-wise, is60.36% in southwest monsoon, 24.36 % in northeast monsoon, 0.97percentage in winter and 14.3 % in summer.

The annual rainfall ranges from 708 mm in 2002 to 1703 mm in 2010. Theannual rainfall departure ranges from -37 % in 2002 to 53% in 2010. Thesouthwest monsoon rainfall contributes about 60 % of annual rainfall. It rangesfrom 459 mm in 2002 to 864 mm in 2006. The year 2002 and 2009 experienceddrought conditions in the district as the annual rainfall recorded in these twoyears is 37 % and 34% less than the long period average (LPA) respectively. The cumulative departure of annual rainfall from LPA indicates that the rainfalldeparture as on 2011 is negative i.e. 40%, showing deficit rainfall. The annualrainfall during 2012 is 1218 mm.

4.7. Social Infrastructure Available:

All infrastructure facilities such as education, health facilities and other social facilities are adequate at Vizianagaram (district) 20 km in north.

5. Planning Brief:

5.1. Planing Concept: The need for the environmental administration of India to become active in the field of environmental planning is founded in the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, which authorizes the Central and State Government " to have the power to take all such measures as it deems necessary or expedient for the purpose of protecting andimproving the quality of the environment and preventing, controlling and abating environmental pollution. Since, the carrying capacity of the environment is not unlimitedand some areas or ecosystems are more susceptible to adverse environmental impacts.

5.2. Assessment of Infrastructure Demand

It is obvious to have some of the essential infrastructures to facilitate the employees. For this purpose it is planned to have canteen, medical facility, etc. Other physical and social facilities are available in this area.

5.3. Amenities/ Facilities:

All infrastructure facilities such as education, health facilities and other social facilities are available at district headquarter due to which the proposed site is facilitated with adequacy in amenities. As most of the workers are employed from the surrounding villages, they would be using available medical facilities in the nearest primary health center.

6. Proposed Infrastructure: 6.1. Industrial Area:

The proposed project is an non production acitivies under modernization of plant. The production capacity remain same as per As per CFE Order No APPCB /VSP/VSP/196/CFE/HO/2015 date 14.09.2015 which is 17197 kg/day.
