AFLEET ALEX bobbled at the start then bumped with CONSOLIDATOR and ROMAN RULER, shifted four wide early on the initial turn, settled on the outside, engaged the leaders while five wide leaving the backstretch, dropped to four wide midway through the turn, took the lead passing the quarter-pole, led gamely into the final furlong, was collared near the sixteenth-pole then outfinished. SUN KING was rated while eager to run on the inside, settled a bit on the backstretch, moved through to contest the lead leaving the backstretch, dueled through the turn, bumped with CONSOLIDATOR in upper stretch, battled gamely into the final sixteenth and weakened slightly. CONSOLIDATOR was bumped at the start, tracked the pace on the outside, made a bid between rivals entering the far turn, dueled into the stretch, bumped with SUN KING inside the three-sixteenths marker, fought determinedly into the final sixteenth and gave way grudgingly. ROMAN RULER bumped with AFLEET ALEX after the start, steadied off heels approaching the first turn, continued just off heels into the backstretch, was hard held near the back of the field, saved ground on the far turn, angled out sharply near the furlong marker and came up empty. PROUD ACCOLADE leaned out at the start, settled between rivals, came under a ride leaving the backstretch, moved around TWICE UNBRIDLED midway through the turn and failed to respond. TWICE UNBRIDLED set the pace under moderate pressure, steadied while being passed with three furlongs to run and stopped. SCANDINAVIA hesitated at the start, raced three wide on the first turn, was reserved near the back of the field, roused while three wide on the far turn, moved to four wide near the quarter-pole and had nothing left. Last year also marked a bittersweet landmark for one of the great sires of our time. While reaching 17 Grade 1 winners over his historic career in 2013, Unbridled’s Song passed away at the age of 20. Every person at Taylor Made has been touched by this amazing animal over the years. He leaves a lasting legacy that will never be forgotten across the industry he served so well. And yet there is much to look forward to in 2014. The legacy continues with our newest stallion, Graydar, the Grade 1-winning son of Unbridled’s Song. FRIDAY, 7 JUNE 2019 NOSEDA TO RETIRE FROM TRAINING HOW DUBAWI HAS HELPED Jeremy Noseda, who has been training in Newmarket since EASE THE BLUES 1998 and whose greatest wins include a St Leger and a Breeders= Cup, is set to retire from training. "The time is right for me to walk away," said Noseda. "I will be leaving the sport with a smile on my face and with a lot of great memories." In 2004, Noseda notched an excellent training feat when sending Wilko (Awesome Again) to Lone Star Park in Texas for the GI Breeders= Cup Juvenile for the 11th start of his 2-year-old campaign. A maiden winner and multiple group-placed, Wilko sprang a 20-1 shock under Frankie Dettori in his first start on the dirt, with the subsequent dual Classic winner Afleet Alex (Northern Afleet) in second. The great sires of the last now $9.85-million in progeny earnings, 7 SW (3%), 13 thirty years, now nearly all dead or retired; Sadler’s SH (6%), two Breeders Cup winners Saturday, Wells , 24 next year, the only one still left--and Storm including Classic winner Ghostzapper, whose 124 Beyer Cat, from the next generation, will be 22.
