Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time September 26, 2021 STEWARDSHIP AWARENESS SUNDAY, 2021 STEWARDSHIP: GRATEFUL AND GENEROUS--- PRAYER / PARTICIPATION / GENEROSITY Every year we are invited to take some time out and reflect upon our role to be good stewards of the gifts God has given us to use for one another. This role of stewardship reminds us to be grateful and generous. Praying about how much we want to participate and how much we can afford to be generous can assist us in knowing what God's will is for us. This year at our parish we have introduced FORMED to help us with our prayer and spiritual formation. We will hear more about FORMED and its beneficial role in assisting us with our prayer life. We are also invited to participate in formal prayer on Mondays with Eucharistic Adoration. Our personal prayer relationship with God will tell us all about our role of participation and generosity. We are called to participate in mass on weekends. We are invited to participate in the active life of our parish. In this way, we support our parish and make it vibrant. The more we participate, the more generous we are with our time. And our generosity will help support our parish. Stewardship reminds us of our call to tithe as much as we can. This year, we went beyond our challenge goal in the Annual Catholic Appeal, which was noteworthy in showing how generous we can be! Historically, we have financially supported the St. Vincent de Paul Society. While it is wonderful that we are so generous with the ACA and St. Vincent de Paul, a very obvious fund that we know that is just as important, if not most important, is our weekly offertory collection and our general fund. In other words, as I've said so many times, we have to have a parish in the first place in order to say we belong to St. David Parish for the ACA, and to say we have a St. David chapter of St. Vincent de Paul. Since my time here, every year we have finished financially ahead at the end of the fiscal year, which is absolutely wonderful! Once again, I will continue to produce our monthly financial balance in the bulletin to inform us of our generosity. Let us pray, to know how to participate, and how much we should financially contribute in being generous. Father Charlie CHRISTINE E. LITWAK && EUGENE SWARINGIN (Grandfather of Josie, Kelly, Leanna, Clare and Thomas Whitlock) ST. VINCENT de PAUL SOCIETY In today’s gospel Jesus tells his disciples: “Anyone who gives you a drink of water because you belong to Christ will not, I assure you, go without his re- ward.” On September 27, the Church will celebrate the feast of St. Vincent de Paul. The members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul are on the front line in laboring for the poor, they are among the first to know their real needs. This month, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to assist families by providing food, assistance with utilities, rent and other bills. God Bless You! GREETERS / USHERS NEEDED The Hospitality Ministry of Greeters/Ushers is preparing to return to pre-Covid guidelines!
