cards will be available. When other dignitaries such as and representatives of the Humphrey family have spoken or been introduced, we hope to have two or three major donors, perhaps Curt Carlson and , come forward to announce what they intend to do. After that, Jane will close the affair with thanks and a reminder to sign a pledge before leaving.

With Jane's efforts, the event promises to be a good one. The room will be suitably adorned with blow-ups of Humphrey, the Institute, and the proposed Exhibit, and brochures will be available. We hope to get good news media attention and to have photographers present.

We are deeply grateful to you for agreeing to help us, and we appreciate all that those in your off ice have done and continue to do to assist us. Please let me know whenever I can be of help to you.

TALKING POINTS HUMPHREY COMMEMORATIVE EXHIBIT NATIONAL KICK-OFF MARCH 20, 1986

o I am pleased and honored to participate in the kick-off of this national fundraising campaign for the Humphrey Commemorative Exhibit, which will be housed in the new Humphrey Center at the University of Minnesota.

o Hubert Humphrey was a towering political figure whose life was an inspiration to millions. And an exhibit like this will be educational memorial -- one that school children and public spirited men and women can learn from and enjoy.

o We hope that you will generously contribute to this worthwhile cause. All of us who worked with and knew Hubert Humphrey know how much he would approve of this kind of exhibit.

o And now I would like to introduce Orville Freeman, who is chairman of the Humprhey Institute Advisory Committee.
