SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION The School provides a transportation service to and from School on a daily basis for the convenience of day students. The five bus routes currently planned to be operated by the School are designed to facilitate integration with the public transport system and accommodate as many students who require this service as possible. If you are interested in School Transport but your needs are not met by the planned routes below, please complete the form so that we can judge the demand. If there is sufficient interest in any area we may be able to accommodate you. For some routes, collection points will be used in the morning to facilitate transport and reduce travelling time. For safety reasons, evening returns will be made directly to the door within the identified zones. The parents of students who cannot be accommodated on a School bus route should try to contact other parents in the area, to arrange a lift scheme. If our bus service does not fit in with your requirements we recommend the Dynamic Cars who can be contacted on 013 7261 3001, Oak Radio Cars who can be contacted on 020 8949 5555, or Premier Cars who can be contacted on 020 8274 9000. These are the services used by the School for all taxi transport. Please be aware that the Routes may change or be withdrawn based on demand. In the case of oversubscribed runs, places will be allocated to existing users first and thereafter on a first come first served basis. “One way only” transport will only be considered if there is space on the bus. School transport is charged a year in advance. A term’s notice should also be given if parents wish to discontinue this service. For School transport there are three terms for the periods September to December, January to March and April to June. Payment for the year must therefore be made in accordance with the invoice issued. Waiting time The Bus will wait only two to three minutes additional to the pre-arranged collection time, in order not to delay the other students using the bus service. Safety All vehicles have seat belts which must be worn. All School transport drivers have Enhanced DBS checks. The School reserves the right to cancel the service due to inclement weather which might make the journey dangerous e.g. heavy snow and ice. The parents will be contacted as soon as the decision is made to cancel transport. Absence due to illness Contact numbers will be provided so that a transport company or your driver can be informed directly if a student is ill and/or does not need to be collected. Late transport The School runs a late night service for those pupils attending after School activities. The late transport departs at 6.10pm and pupils signed up for this service have a choice of the afternoon transport or the late service. The cost of this late service will be £925 for the year and will be invoiced separately. All other late transport is paid by the School only in special circumstances as authorised by the Bursar. Refunds No refunds are made for occasions when students do not use the transport due to their late arrival (see waiting time) or any other absences. Special arrangements Ad-hoc use of a transport may be possible where spare capacity exists on the vehicle, by special arrangement with the Business Office. Note School transport is organised by the Business Office, although many of the routes are contracted out. Any changes to services must be authorised by the Business Office.
