STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE PSAC CHANGES CROSSOVER GAMES RULE After counting the mandated crossover games as part of the divisional It’s tough to think of a schedule that includes New Haven, East record in 2014, the PSAC has reversed that decision for 2015. That Stroudsburg, Gannon, California, Mercyhurst and Indiana (Pa.) as a weak decision helped Slippery Rock win the division and get the bid to the schedule, but overall The Rock’s opponents this year were a combined title game last year after SRU won both of its crossovers against East 50-69 (.420) in 2014. Those numbers are pulled down drastically by Stroudsburg and Millersville. The Rock will play both of those teams Cheyney’s 0-11 record and Millersville’s 1-10 record. again this year, both at home, but those games will not count toward

the division record. Only the seven PSAC West games will determine the Just looking at the six teams mentioned above though, The Rock will divisional winner and representative in the title game. have their hands full. Those six combined for a 41-23 (.641) record. ROCK AGAINST THE PSAC EAST The five opponents Slippery Rock will play at home this year posted a The Rock own a 36-20-1 (.640) all-time record against PSAC-Eastern 23-31 (.426) overall record last year, while the six away opponents were Division teams since Mihalik assumed the coaching reins in 1988. The 27-38 (.415) in 2014. Rock posted a 4-1 record against teams in the East last year with wins over Kutztown, Millersville, East Stroudsburg and Bloomsburg in the SEASON OPENER WIN STREAK PSAC title game when the Huskies were fifth ranked and undefeated. Slippery Rock’s win last week marked the seventh straight season The lone loss to a PSAC East team came against West Chester in the opening victory for the program, which has not lost the first game of the NCAA playoffs. season since 2008. EAST vs. WEST WINNING SEASON STREAK Week one of the 2015 season wasn’t particularly kind to the PSAC East With a 9-3 record last fall, Slippery Rock has now put together six as all but one team, Shippensburg, suffered a loss. Included in that were straight winning seasons, has been above .500 in eight of the last nine annual favorites in the division Bloomsburg and West Chester. On the years and has finished in winning fashion in 22 of the 27 seasons in other side of the state, the PSAC West got wins from all but two teams head coach George Mihalik’s career. Only three teams in the PSAC have that played in week one. The only PSAC school not to play a week one managed at least six straight winning seasons (Bloomsburg, California). game, opting to only play 10 this year, was Indiana (Pa.).
