Brown, 20, an Elementary Education major and graduate of Souderton High School, was a two-year letterwinner at outside linebacker and safety for the Warriors. Derek continues to give in his passing, as eight organs were donated through the Gift of Life Donor Program, which serves eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware. He is survived by his parents, Jack and Lillian Kerns, and two brothers, Matt and Ryan Brown. Matt was a four-year letterwinner at tight end for the Warriors and graduated in 2011. Derek played in four games as a true freshman in 2010 before a season-ending injury. He returned to play in 10 games, including nine starts, between linebacker and safety as a sophomore. He was tied for fourth on the team with 73 tackles. At Souderton, he was an All-Suburban One running back and safety as a three-year letterwinner. He helped Souderton to the league championship as a sophomore.
