Ferocious storms, exceptionally high winds and biblical rain have affected many a plan for cycling, yet as quickly as these storms arrive, they also vanish leaving us with fine, crisp, sunny autumn days and spectacular colour on the trees. The down side is that it is also the beginning of the pot hole season, with the extreme rainfall already doing its worst on our roads, and new potholes arriving daily. So when you are out and about please do remember the excellent Cycling UK website FillThatHole where you can report lethal potholes that you come across. It is quick and easy to follow the instructions with the added bonus that you can send your own photo of the offending hole. The Council will not be out and about looking for them, so they do rely on us to report them and if you don’t report it, it won’t get fixed. Committee Matters: Committee meeting on 25th October, took place at David and Susan Rix’s house, and was busy as it was the pre- AGM meeting with various items under discussion. Roger Bacon had the very good news that he had re-negotiated the cost of hiring the Southview Rooms venue for Clubnights, with a saving of £84 a year to us. The Treasurer’s Annual Report was circulated with the opportunity for members to query items, such as HQ requiring a breakdown of how our annual allocation of funds from them, is spent and Roger explained that this year the allocation went on the new printer and ink cartridges – essential for the production of the Runs Lists, as well as the on-going costs of the providing Runs Lists every other month such as paper, ink cartridges and postage. The Secretary’s Report was presented in draft form, and after various adjustments, was agreed to be ready for circulation on Sunday at the AGM. Annual General Meeting Sunday 27th October: The Winged Wheel Project was discussed now the restoration and conservation work has been completed and the wheel has been delivered to Ripe Village Stores, where Kath Sibilier will organise the celebration for its new lease of life and relocation to the shop wall. Both the Treasurer’s and Secretary’s Reports were presented, discussed and accepted. Norman Wright and David Rix were unanimously voted in as our new President and new Vice-President respectively, and the holders of the other posts remain the same. David Rix gave an update on the Egrets Way Project which has stagnated somewhat as negotiations with various landowners have slowed progress immensely. The next Committee Meeting will be 10th January 2020 in Ringmer.
