HUZOOR’S TOUR OF GERMANY JUNE 2014 A Personal Account PART 2 By Abid Khan 1 Departure for Munich On 9th June 2014, Huzoor and his Qafila departed from the Baitus Sabuh Mosque in Frankfurt at 10.15am. We were travelling to Neufahrn a small town, known as a municipality, lying in the suburbs of Germany’s famous city of Munich. Huzoor was travelling to inaugurate the Al-Mahdi Mosque. Apart from Berlin, Munich is considered to be Germany’s most famous city internationally. It is home to the famous football team ‘Bayern Munich’ and also home to the renowned car maker BMW. The drive from Frankfurt took nearly 3 and a half hours and as we approached Neufahrn the Qafila cars were escorted by 2 police cars. One of the police cars was a ‘special forces’ car which travelled at the rear of the Qafila, whilst the other police car acted as the lead car. Apart from these 2 cars there were other police cars that had completely blocked traffic on certain roads so that Huzoor’s car could travel directly without any delay. As I saw this I felt a great deal of gratitude to the German authorities for welcoming Huzoor in such a positive way. 2 Arrival in Munich We arrived at the AlMahdi Mosque at 1.35pm where Huzoor was greeted by a local dignitary. The dignitary spoke very passionately as he welcomed Huzoor and said that he held a very deep respect for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. Huzoor thanked him for his courtesy and kindness.

It heralds the completion of the first century of the estab lishment of the Ahmadiyya Movement in Islam in 1889 by its holy founder Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, India, who claimed to be the Promised Messiah and Mahdi, the coming of whom was foretold by the Holy Founder oflslam Hazrat Muham mad Mustafa, peace be on him. The Promised Messiah had prophecied that Allah would cause his message to spread to the corners of the earth and we, the people of this Age are witness to the fact that the message which had emanated from a small remote village of Qadian one hundred years ago, has now spread to the corners of the earth and today, by the grace of Allah, the adherents to the faith exceed ten mil lion in 118 countries throughout the world.

HUZOOR’S TOUR OF GERMANY & BELGIUM 2018 Part 2 A Personal Account By Abid Khan 1 Introduction to Part 2 In part 1 of this diary, I wrote about the first week of Huzoor’s tour of Germany in September 2018. In this part, I write about the final few days of Huzoor’s visit to Germany and then about his visit to Belgium, where Huzoor also graced the Jalsa Salana with his presence. During the final days of the tour, Huzoor met with many guests, dignitaries, media, as well as hundreds of Ahmadis. Many meetings were extremely emotional and faith inspiring. I consider a great blessing to have attended and to be able to recount some details in the coming pages. A healing hand One day, during the Germany Jalsa, I heard Mansoor (Huzoor’s grandson) had not been feeling well. When I saw him, later in the day, I asked him how he was. In response, Mansoor said: “I wasn’t feeling well at night and in the morning. I could not sleep at all until around Fajr time because I had a splitting headache. However, after Fajr, Huzoor came to see me and he gave me a glass of milk mixed with honey and also gave me paracetamol. After that, I was finally able to sleep and when I woke up I felt better.” 2 It was a beautiful and rare insight into how Huzoor continues to care for his family and loved ones and fulfils his familial duties despite being so busy. In fact, anyone who has seen Huzoor from close range will testify to the fact that the way Huzoor cares and loves for his family is an example for all mankind.

HUZOOR’S TOUR OF THE UNITED STATES AND GUATEMALA OCTOBER – NOVEMBER 2018 Part 4 A Personal Account By Abid Khan 1 Introduction Part 3 of this series of diaries ended with Huzoor’s meetings with Ambassador Sam Brownback and Congressman Jamie Raskin at Baitur Rahman. This diary, part 4, commences immediately thereafter and in this concluding part, I shall mention aspects of Huzoor’s engagements and activities during the final days of his visit to the United States. A prayer fulfilled It was the morning of 31 October 2018 and after meeting two American dignitaries earlier in the morning, Huzoor held a session of family Mulaqats that continued uninterrupted from 11.15am until 3.30pm. Amongst those to meet Huzoor for the first time was an Ahmadi now living in the United States, originally from Pakistan, Sheikh Latif Ahmad Akmal (49). Telling me about the experience, Sheikh Latif sahib said: “In 2008, I went to Qadian for the first time and as soon as I saw Minaratul Masih I prayed for two things. One was that in my life I would meet Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (aba) at least once and, second, that my children remained forever firm in their faith. I do not care about meeting my children and being close to them in this world, I want to be close to them in the permanent state which is the next life.” 2 Sheikh Latif sahib continued: “Today, the first prayer of mine offered by me in Qadian came true and because I was able to take my children to see Huzoor and I know their faith will strengthen and so, in reality, both aspects of my prayer in 2008 have been fulfilled.

  • The Experience of Ahmadis in Pakistan- an Analysis of How a Religious Minority Coexists in A
The experience of Ahmadis in Pakistan- an analysis of how a religious minority coexists in a country with a dominant religion By Hooriya Rashid Submitted to Department of Legal Studies Central European University In partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts Supervisor Dr Brett G. Scharffs Budapest, Hungary (2018) CEU eTD Collection Abstract The Ahmadiyya community is a marginalized religious minority group in Pakistan. Although it identifies itself as a Muslim movement that follows the teachings in the Quran, it is regarded as heretical by the mainstream (Sunni) Muslims in Pakistan. The laws of the country have been designed to further marginalize the Ahmadis. The Second Amendment to the constitution of Pakistan officially declares Ahmadis as non-Muslims. Furthermore, in 1984, under the Zia ordinance, Ahmadis are not allowed to call themselves Muslims or to "pose as Muslims." Today, the community primarily lives in a small town of 70,000 people, called Rabwah, which serves as the headquarters of the community. The Ahmadiyya community is not involved in the political process of the country and individual Ahmadis continue to be jailed for ‘posing as Muslims.’ For this study, I carried out an extensive field research for a month in Rabwah. The respondents were both community members and government officials. I collected data on how citizenship rights such as freedom of assembly, freedom of expression, and freedom to profess religion are violated. The paper discusses how Pakistan violates international human rights standards of citizenship with regard to its treatment of Ahmadis. However, the main argument of this thesis is to demonstrate that even in situations where a dominant religion persecutes a religious minority, CEU eTD Collection the minority group can still survive if it has a strong value system.
