    Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore 5 Maxwell Road #04-00 Tower Block MND Complex Singapore 069110 Fax: (65) 62235383 WHITE RABBIT CREAMY CANDY AND BAIRONG GRAPE BISCUITS FROM CHINA SAFE FOR CONSUMPTION The Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA) has conducted tests on the White Rabbit Creamy Candy and Bairong Grape Biscuits from China and found them to be safe for consumption. 2 The tests were conducted following reports that four products - White Rabbit Creamy Candy, Milk Candy, Balron Grape Biscuits and Yong Kang Foods Grape Biscuits – were withdrawn by the Philippines’ Food and Drug Agency for possible formaldehyde contamination. Of these products, only the White Rabbit Creamy Candy is imported into Singapore. However, Singapore also imports Bairong Grape Biscuits, which has a similar name to Balron Grape Biscuits. Samples of both Bairong Grape Biscuits and White Rabbit Creamy Candy were taken for testing. 3 Formaldehyde is a chemical that is not permitted for use as a food additive. However, formaldehyde occurs naturally at low levels in a wide range of foods. The World Health Organization (WHO) has established a Tolerable Daily Intake (TDI) of 0.15 mg/kg body weight for formaldehyde. 4 Our tests indicate that there were minute amounts of formaldehyde in the samples of White Rabbit Creamy Candy and Bairong Grape Biscuits tested. However, based on the TDI established by WHO, normal consumption of these products would not pose a health risk. The presence of the minute amounts of formaldehyde could be due to its natural occurrence in the ingredients used for making the products. There is no evidence to suggest that formaldehyde was added into the products as a preservative.

Throughout these and many other comics, queer identities reflect homophobic stereotypes rather than resisting them.     Crowell 1 Garrett Crowell Dr. Fadzillah ANTH 2010-OH 30 November 2012 Comic Books as Modern Mythology: An Anthropological View of (Popular) Cultural Evolution Crowell 2 In the traditions of ancient Greece and Rome, there were innumerable stories about gods and heroes and monsters, all of whom exhibited some trait or another that was shared with either the common citizen of the time or reflective of some situation in which they might find themselves. These were the most popular stories, the ones passed on by word of mouth and at large gatherings. The classical myths have some resonance even today. The planets are named after the gods of Rome, and even words we hear and use on a regular basis, like “echo,” “erotic,” “chaos” and “volcano” have their origins in Greek myth. Our very conception of the 'hero' – a person who triumphs over seemingly impossible odds at great personal sacrifice over an epic journey – comes from the Greeks and Romans. Indeed, without the ancients, the word “epic” would not exist. The Norsemen of ancient Scandinavia had their own extensive catalog of developed traditional stories featuring their own versions of gods and heroes, monsters and cataclysms. These stories and characters are enduring enough that contemporary weather patterns and the days of the week are named after them; few people realize that the primary god of the Norse was called Woden as well as Odin, and that the fourth day of the week is actually Woden's Day. (If you've always thought Wednesday was spelled strangely, now you know why.) It precedes Thor's Day, and that is followed in turn by Freya's Day, as Freya was the wife of Odin and mother to Thor, the God of the thunders.

IN May 2019, the release of Avengers: Endgame served as the culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe thus far, a franchise of twenty-two films released over eleven years. This essay collection, Iron Man vs. Captain America and Philosophy: Give Me Liberty or Keep Me Safe, edited by Nicholas Michaud and Jessica Watkins, focuses on a key installment in that franchise, Captain America: Civil War (2016). In the film, Avengers Iron Man (aka Tony Stark) and Captain America (aka Steve Rogers) have a falling out over ceding the Avengers' authority to a governing body and the fate of Bucky Barnes, Cap's brainwashed former best friend. Each of the twenty-four chapters in the collection considers the characters' respective cases, resulting in a book that uses philosophy to evaluate the superhero genre, and vice versa. The first section of the book features six essays that favor Iron Man's perspective, that superheroes need to be regulated for the greater good, and more generally, Iron Man is the better hero. Three particularly stand out. Daniel Malloy argues that Tony is ultimately a better hero because he is more flawed but struggles against those flaws. This argument reflects a popular framing of the difference between Marvel and DC superheroes, that DC's are more iconic, but Marvel's, through their flaws and insecurities, are more relatable.
