Publicado por: Francisco Mastrascusa Cuba se incluyó este lunes en el medallero del XII Campeonato Mundial de Atletismo, cuando Yargelis Savigne y Mabel Gay coparon los dos primeros lugares en el triple salto. La campeona se empinó esta vez con registro de 14,95 metros, en tanto Mabel hizo la competencia de su vida y se estiró hasta los 14,61 metros. La rusa Anna Pyatykh completó el podio (14,58 metros). Antes, solo Rusia había logrado «doblar» en esta modalidad. Sucedió en Stuttgart 1993, por intermedio de Anna Biryukova y Iolanda Chen. Savigne, de solo 24 años, lleva tres medallas en igual cantidad de mundiales disputados, pues ganó la plata en Helsinki 2005 y el oro en Osaka 2007. De paso, se sacó la espina de su discreta actuación en los Juegos Olímpicos de Beijing 2008. «Estoy satisfecha. Podía haber saltado más de 15 metros, pero quería asegurar y solo pensaba en ganar la competencia. Quería quitarme el mal recuerdo de Beijing», explicó a la prensa acreditada. Pero no todo fue color de rosas para nuestro país en la tercera fecha, pues Zulia Calatayud quedó eliminada en la semifinal de 800 metros. La capitalina, monarca universal en Helsinki 2005, se ubicó séptima en su serie con tiempo de 2:01.53 minutos, muy lejos de la rusa Mariya Savinova (1:59.30). Mientras, el esloveno Primoz Kozmus, campeón olímpico en Beijing 2008, lideró la final del martillo con un disparo de 80,84 metros en su último intento. Detrás quedaron el polaco Szymon Ziolkowski (79,30) y el ruso Aleksey Zagornyi (78,09). Asimismo, la española Marta Domínguez lideró los 3 000 metros con obstáculos al realizar su mejor tiempo de la temporada (9:07.32 minutos). En plata quedó la rusa Yuliya Zarudneva (9:08.39) y el bronce fue para la kenyana Milach Chemos Cheywa (9:08.57), también con sus mejores registros del año. Otro que no defraudó fue el multilaureado etiope Kenenisa Bekele, quien logró su cuarto título mundial en 10 000 metros, esta vez con tiempo de 26:45.11 minutos. Por su parte, las jamaicanas Shelly-Ann Fraser y Kerron Stewart lograron el doblete en los 100 metros planos sobre la pista azul del estadio de Berlín. La vencedora, quien es además la vigente campeona olímpica, logró el mejor registro del año (10:73 segundos). En tanto, Stewart, tercera en Beijing 2008, igualó su marca personal (10:75). Carmelita Jeter, de Estados Unidos, fue tercera con 10:90 segundos. Por último, la final de la pértiga deparó la caída inesperada de la rusa Yelena Isinbayeva, quien no puso saltar sobre los 4,75 metros. Con esa propia marca ganó la polaca Anna Rogowska. Bolt:nuevos apuntes A todo lo dicho y escrito sobre la hazaña del jamaicano Usain Bolt, quien corrió los 100 metros en 9:58 segundos, agrego a continuación algunos apuntes. No tuvo la mejor arrancada, pues demoró 0.146 milésimas de segundo en reaccionar. Lo superaron Chambers (0.119), Thompson (0.129), Bayley (0.134), Powell (0.144) y Gay (0.144). Desde los 20 metros tomó el mando hasta la meta y empleó 41 zancadas en el recorrido, con velocidad de 44,72 kilómetros por hora. Empleó dos segundos y 89 milésimas durante el proceso de despegue y hasta la quinta parte del tramo, cuando ya adelantaba a todos los rivales. Aceleró hasta los 80 metros, con tiempos de 1.75 segundos entre los 20 y 40 metros; de 1.67 entre los 40 y 60; y de 1.61 entre 60 y 80. En los últimos 20 metros mantuvo su esfuerzo y acabó en 1.66, a pesar de tomar un respiro para echar un vistazo a sus perseguidores y al reloj que registraba la hazaña. ¿Qué les parece? Por lo pronto, no habrá revancha en los 200 metros, después de la retirada de Tyson Gay. El norteño presenta una lesión de ingle, según informó este lunes su representante. El estadounidense, campeón de los 200 metros en Osaka 2007, no defenderá su título pero espera competir todavía en la posta de 4x100 metros.
