(313) 852-7338 MEET THE A-TEAM Key Bills Passed and Introduced Since being elected for my fi rst partial term, we have been working diligently to make positive changes for Michigan and our communities. In fact, thanks to the work we’ve done together, I have been the only Senate Democrat to have a bill signed into law in three consecutive terms, including: Public Act 485 of 2018, Public Acts 69 and 72 of 2019, Public Acts 202-204 and 400 of 2020, and Public Act 1 of 2021. Some of the key policies that I have introduced include Public Act 400 of 2020, part of the Clean Slate initiative, which serves as the funding mechanism for the automatic expungement of nonviolent crimes relating to marijuana. Other bills I’ve introduced will help fund the recommendations from the Michigan Coronavirus Task Force on Racial Disparities (Senate Bill 984 of 2020) and create a family savings account for items like childcare and family planning. I have also had legislation signed by the governor to create licensing reciprocity for military service members. Last term, I introduced Senate Bill 1018 to fund Detroit Public Schools Community District from the Right to Literacy settlement. Additionally, I have pushed extremely hard for the Michigan Economic Development COVID-19 Vaccines And Resources WE CAN DO BETTER Corporation to provide more fi scal support and investment in Black-owned businesses, The COVID-19 vaccine is the only way we can get past this deadly pandemic.
