On June 4, we will be honoring our graduating seniors. Join us virtually or in-person for a special Shabbat Service that features our seniors! If you have a graduating senior, please email a photo of your senior and the school they will be attending next year to Elana Beame at [email protected].

“Three years ago, with absolutely no idea what I was getting into, my friends convinced me to join JAMTY and attend NFTY events. Sitting here today, I am so beyond grateful for the experiences I’ve had, the friendships I’ve made, and the leadership skills I’ve gained while being immersed in this community. I am so honored to be a part of a movement that is so incredible and social justice-minded. Thank you for everything JAMTY and TBA.” — Ava Dinow, University of Florida

“Attending a large public high school, it was extremely hard to connect with other Jewish teenagers like me. I have never really felt that I had a place to express my Jewish identity and meet other Jewish teenagers who shared the same values and beliefs as I do. My sophomore year of high school I decided to start volunteering and spending more time at TBA and found that it was just what I was looking for. I am so thankful for my time here because TBA has provided me with a safe space to explore my Jewish identity as well as meet other teenagers who have similar values and interests as me.” — Lindsay Copple, University of Central Florida

“I have been a part of the TBA community since I was in pre-school and I have continued to stay involved through the years serving as the JAMTY membership liaison in 8th grade, Communications Vice President for three years, and the current JAMTY President. Being involved in such an incredible community has helped me develop meaningful relationships and I’ve been given so many wonderful opportunities! It’s bittersweet to be heading on a new journey, but I know the TBA doors will always be open to me and welcome me with open arms!” — Maya Voorhees, Florida Gulf Coast University

“My favorite memories growing up at Temple Beth Am are attending and volunteering at the Purim Carnival each year and my Bar Mitzvah lessons with Rabbi Brett. For the past 4 years I have been a madrich in the religious school classes and I will most miss my conversations with the younger kids. They teach you more about current trends and things you wouldn’t normally be involved with. TBA has shaped me into the young adult I am and taught me about staying focused on a task and staying committed, while also teaching me to stick to my roots and meet other Jewish people.” — Julian Kasmai, Undecided RSVP to Elana at [email protected] for any of the events below!

Bat Mitzvah of Claire Schnitzer (May 1, 2021) With much love and joy, and very full hearts, we announce the Bat Mitzvah of Claire Evan Schnitzer on May 1, 2021 at Temple Beth Am. Claire is in the 7th grade at Independence Middle School, where she is enrolled in the Pre-Law Program. She is a dedicated student, with consistent honor roll achievement. Claire is an avid lacrosse player and has been playing since she moved to Florida during 2nd grade. Claire has filled her free time during the pandemic crocheting hats for local NICU babies and “ear-savers” for the nurses and doctors. We are sure that the whimsical hats she created brought a smile to the parents of the babies who wore them. We are extremely proud of Claire and all of her accomplishments. She is an amazing daughter, sister, friend and person! We are especially grateful to the teachers and staff at Temple Beth Am for making this our home away from home and to Rabbis Alon Levkovitz and Brett Tancer and Cantorial Soloist Marcy Morris for helping Claire to reach this moment. Bat Mitzvah of Lexi Gibson (May 8, 2021) It is with great pride and joy that we announce the Bat Mitzvah of our daughter, Lexi Reese Gibson, on May 8, 2021 at Temple Beth Am. Lexi is a 7th grader at Bak Middle School of the Arts. She is a dance major at the school, but also a very talented artist. She spends most of her time dancing, day and night. Any free time she has is spent with her best companion, her dog Luna, also her parents and friends. Lexi has a special place in her heart for veterans and is dedicating time to soldiers by sending them letters and care packages. We are grateful to be able to celebrate Lexi at Temple Beth Am. A special thank you to Rabbi Alon Levkovitz, Rabbi Brett Tancer, Cantorial Soloist Marcy Morris, Elena Levy, and Terri Berryman for all their guidance along the way. Amy & Mark Gibson

Bar Mitzvah of Dylan Copple (May 8, 2021) With hearts full of love, we proudly announce the Bar Mitzvah of our son, Dylan Copple, on Saturday May 8, 2021 at Temple Beth Am. Dylan is a 7th grade honor student at Independence Middle School. He is an energetic, athletic, fun-loving kid who enjoys competitive sports, especially basketball and football. Outside of school, Dylan loves hanging out with friends, shooting hoops and spending his summers at Camp Barney Medintz. We are very proud of Dylan for all of his accomplishments, but most of all because he is a good person, a kind and loving son, a caring brother, grandson, nephew, and a loyal friend. We are very excited to celebrate Dylan’s Bar Mitzvah at Temple Beth Am and again in Israel in the summer of 2022. For his mitzvah project, Dylan will be leading a recreational program for the exceptional residents at the Jewish Association for Residential Care. We would like to thank Rabbi Brett Tancer, Cantorial Soloist Marcy Morris, and Rabbi Alon Levkovitz for all of their hard work in helping Dylan prepare for this special milestone. With all our love, Tana & Ryan Copple and Family

MITZVAH OF THE MONTH: FOOD DRIVE TO BENEFIT ALPERT JEWISH FAMILY SERVICES Zoom Lounge is our 8th–12th grade program that brings together our local Synagogues for teen education. Cathy Berger Kaye, author of Complete Guide to Service Learning, meets monthly with our students to discuss the importance of service learning and giving back to the community. As a cumulation of this program, the students have organized a food drive to benefit Alpert Jewish Family Services.

AJFS receives many donations during the High Holy Days and now they need our help replenishing their food pantry. Their main needs are Kosher non-perishable items such as canned fish, canned goods, condiments, toiletries, and paper goods. They currently do not need pastas and cereals.

Items can be dropped off to Temple Beth Am by May 18. Or, please see our Amazon Wishlist for an easy way to shop and support: https://amzn.to/32qlg8D

Thank you in advance for your participation!
