Aphyllophorales (Basidiomycetes). Taxonomy, Ecology and Distri bution. Abstract Wood-inhabiting fungi were collected on different trees in 99 loca-' lities of alder woods, dominated by Alnus incana or occasionally A. glutinosa, in N-C Sweden and C Norway. Most of the localities are situated near the east coast of Sweden where the prevailing land elevation creates conditions suitable for colonization by alder. The remaining localities are mainly found in the inland parts of Sweden and Norway, along streams, in ravines etc. The investigated localities are briefly described as to their general vegetation, and a regional survey of the alder forests is given. The number of collections of Aphyllophorales amounts to approxi mately 5,000, comprising 286 species. The following new combinations are proposed: Hypoohnicium polonense (Bres.) Strid, H. pruinosum (Bres.) Strid, Phlebia lindtneri (Pil.) Parm. and Sistotrema hete- roncmum (John Erikss.) Strid. Seven species are collected as new to Scandinavia, viz., Botryobasidium aure urn3 Ceratobasidium stridiit Hyphoderma orphanellum, Hyphodontiella multiseptata, Hypoohnicium pruinosum> Phlebia lindtneri and Tubuliorinis effugiens, and approxi mately 85 additional species are reported for the first time from the investigation area. Six specimens of Cortioiaoeae have remained undetermined but are included in the species list. -

Abstract: Attention is paid to all basidiomycetous species hitherto known to occur on Catalpa as host plant. During 1955-1997 more than 20 new fungus-host associations from diverse species of Catalpa grown in Europe could be found by the author. Zusammenfassung: Basidiomyzeten, die bisher von Catalpa als Wirtspflanze bekannt sind, werden aufgeführt. Dem Autor gelang es, 1955-1997 mehr als zwanzig neue Pilz-Wirt-Assoziationen von ver- schiedenen in Europa angepflanzten Catalpa-Artcn zu finden. Catalpa SCOP. (Bignoniaceae), called cigar-tree in the USA, a genus native to the United States of America [Southern Catalpa = C. hignonioides WALTER, Hardy Ca- talpa = C. speciosa (WARDER ex BARNEY) ENGELM.], West Indies and/or China. Common species of the genus are favoured as ornamental trees due to their showy panicles of flowers and long cigar-like pendent capsular fruits as well. In Europe, spe- cies of Catalpa are often cultivated as park- and street-trees. OUDEMANS (1923) mentioned only four species of Basidiomycetes for Catalpa, i.e., Polyponts distortus (= Abortipoms biennis). Pistil/aha mucedina. Pistil/aria mucoroides, and Polyponis distinctus (nomen dubium). Six further basidiomycetous species collected on Catalpa were listed in the next host index by SEYMOUR (1929): Exidia saccharina, Polyponis adustus (= Bjerkandera adusta), Schizophyllum commune, Stereum albobadium (= Dendrophora alhobadia), Stereum versicolor, and Trametes sepium (= Antrodia al- bida). -
A Preliminary Checklist of Arizona Macrofungi
A PRELIMINARY CHECKLIST OF ARIZONA MACROFUNGI Scott T. Bates School of Life Sciences Arizona State University PO Box 874601 Tempe, AZ 85287-4601 ABSTRACT A checklist of 1290 species of nonlichenized ascomycetaceous, basidiomycetaceous, and zygomycetaceous macrofungi is presented for the state of Arizona. The checklist was compiled from records of Arizona fungi in scientific publications or herbarium databases. Additional records were obtained from a physical search of herbarium specimens in the University of Arizona’s Robert L. Gilbertson Mycological Herbarium and of the author’s personal herbarium. This publication represents the first comprehensive checklist of macrofungi for Arizona. In all probability, the checklist is far from complete as new species await discovery and some of the species listed are in need of taxonomic revision. The data presented here serve as a baseline for future studies related to fungal biodiversity in Arizona and can contribute to state or national inventories of biota. INTRODUCTION Arizona is a state noted for the diversity of its biotic communities (Brown 1994). Boreal forests found at high altitudes, the ‘Sky Islands’ prevalent in the southern parts of the state, and ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa P.& C. Lawson) forests that are widespread in Arizona, all provide rich habitats that sustain numerous species of macrofungi. Even xeric biomes, such as desertscrub and semidesert- grasslands, support a unique mycota, which include rare species such as Itajahya galericulata A. Møller (Long & Stouffer 1943b, Fig. 2c). Although checklists for some groups of fungi present in the state have been published previously (e.g., Gilbertson & Budington 1970, Gilbertson et al. 1974, Gilbertson & Bigelow 1998, Fogel & States 2002), this checklist represents the first comprehensive listing of all macrofungi in the kingdom Eumycota (Fungi) that are known from Arizona. -

Scottish Natural Heritage Biodiversity of Dead Wood Fungi – Lichens - Bryophytes Dr David Genney SNH Policy and Advice Officer Scottish Natural Heritage Key messages Scotland is home to thousands of fungi, lichens and bryophytes, many of which depend on dead wood as a food source or place to grow. This presentation gives a brief introduction, for each group, to the diversity of dead wood species and the types of dead wood they need to survive. The take-home message is that the dead wood habitat is as diverse as the species that depend upon it. Ensuring a wide range of these dead wood types will maximise species diversity. Some dead wood types need special management and may need to be prioritised in areas where threatened species depend upon them. The Diversity of Macromycetes in the Territory of Batočina (Serbia)

The purpose of this paper was discovering the diversity of macromycetes in the territory of Batočina (Serbia). Field studies, which lasted more than a year, revealed the presence of 200 species of macromycetes. The identified species belong to phyla Basidiomycota (191 species) and Ascomycota (9 species). The biggest number of registered species (100 species) was from the order Agaricales. Among the identified species was one strictly protected – Phallus hadriani and seven protected species: Amanita caesarea, Marasmius oreades, Cantharellus cibarius, Craterellus cornucopia- odes, Tuber aestivum, Russula cyanoxantha and R. virescens; also, several rare and endangered species of Serbia. This paper is a contribution to the knowledge of the diversity of macromycetes not only in the territory of Batočina, but in Serbia, in general. INTRODUCTION Fungi represent one of the most diverse and widespread group of organisms in terrestrial ecosystems, but, despite that fact, their diversity remains highly unexplored. Until recently it was considered that there are 1.6 million species of fungi, from which only something around 100 000 were described (KIRK et al., 2001), while data from 2017 lists 120000 identified species, which is still a slight number (HAWKSWORTH and LÜCKING, 2017). -

Extensive macro- and microscopical descriptions and illustrations of the main anatomical features are provided. In 2014 and 2015, a number of explorations were undertaken during rainy season to explore the ECM diversity. The morpho-taxonomy of thirteen samples of Russulaceae were briefly discussed. Four samples of Lactarius and nine samples of Russula were described morphologically and illustrated taxonomically. Detailed study on the spore morphology of the specimens was carried out using staining techniques and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Out of these Lactarius paradoxus, L. subpurpureus, Russula fellea, R. flavida and R. subfoetens have been reported for the first time from Himachal Pradesh.
