Previous meetings • Adrián López’s added-time finish earned Villarreal a 1-0 win in the home leg, which was the sides' first competitive meeting. • The teams played a pre-season friendly in 2008, drawing 0-0 at El Madrigal. • Liverpool's 33 UEFA games against Spanish opposition have ended W13 D10 L10 (W4 D6 L5 at Anfield – W7 D4 L5 in Spain). The coaches • Jürgen Klopp, 48, replaced Brendan Rodgers as Liverpool manager last October.
