Malmö FF will look to make amends for their 5-0 defeat at Club Atlético de Madrid when the teams meet again in Sweden on matchday four. • Group A leaders Atlético would move six points clear of their hosts with victory at Malmö New Stadium. Conversely, Malmö – whose loss in Madrid was their biggest European defeat in 44 years – would climb back level on points with Atlético should they win the game. Previous meetings • Luis Aragonés scored in both legs when Atlético defeated Malmö 5-1 on aggregate in the first round of the 1966/67 European Champion Clubs' Cup, winning 2-0 away then 3-1 in Spain. • That remains the only time either club had faced opponents from the other country before this season. Match background Malmö FF • Åge Hareide's side have won their last three European home fixtures, including the 2-0 victory over Olympiacos FC on matchday two. • Qualifiers included, they have not conceded a goal at home in 360 minutes in this season's UEFA Champions League – a run including the qualifying round games against FK Ventspils (0-0), AC Sparta Praha (2-0) and FC Salzburg (3-0). • Overall, the Swedish champions are unbeaten at home in eight games in UEFA competition, having kept a clean sheet in each of them. • Malmö are Sweden's first group stage representatives since Helsingborgs IF in 2000/01. Club Atlético de Madrid • In putting five goals past Malmö, Atlético recorded their biggest European victory since beating NK 6-1 at home in the 1992/93 European Cup Winners' Cup first round. • Atlético are looking for their first away points in Group A after losing their first match on the road 3-2 at Olympiacos on matchday one. • They were unbeaten in all six UEFA Champions League away games in 2013/14, when they won at FC Porto, FK Austria Wien, AC Milan and Chelsea FC. 7 Malmö FF - Club Atlético de Madrid Tuesday 4 November 2014 - 20.45CET (20.45 local time) Match press kit Malmö New Stadium, Malmo Head coach Malmö FF: Åge Hareide Date of birth: 23 September 1953 Nationality: Norwegian Playing career: IL Hødd, Molde FK, Manchester City FC, Norwich City FC, Molde FK, Norway Coaching career: Molde FK, Helsinborgs IF (twice), Brøndby IF, Rosenborg BK, Norway, Örgryte IS, Viking FK, Malmö FF • Having trained as a tax accountant before turning professional, Hareide was a physical defender who represented his country 50 times between 1976 and 1986. His club career took him from Molde to Manchester City and then Norwich in the English top flight. • Hareide made the transition to coaching before hanging up his boots. After returning from England he acted as player-coach for Molde during two seasons. From 1987 he focused solely on coaching and a second spell as Molde boss brought his first silverware – the 1994 Norwegian Cup. His first trophy in Sweden was also the cup, with Helsingborg in 1998. In 2003, Hareide added one more Norwegian Cup as coach of Rosenborg. • Hareide is the only coach to win league titles in Sweden (Helsingborg 1999), Denmark (Brøndby 2001/02) and Norway (Rosenborg 2003). • Coached Norway from January 2004 until December 2008. Under Hareide, Norway made it to the play-offs for the 2006 FIFA World Cup but lost 2-0 on aggregate to the Czech Republic. • Returned to Helsingborg in 2012 for a six-month spell and steered the side to the UEFA Champions League play- offs, where they succumbed to Celtic FC. In January 2014 he was appointed by Malmö, leading them into the UEFA Champions League group stage for the first time at the start of 2014/15. Club Atlético de Madrid: Diego Simeone Date of birth: 28 April 1970 Nationality: Argentinian Playing career: CA Vélez Sarsfield, AC Pisa, Sevilla FC, Club Atlético de Madrid, FC Internazionale Milano, SS Lazio, Club Atlético de Madrid, Racing Club Coaching career: Racing Club, Club Estudiantes de la Plata, CA River Plate, CA San Lorenzo, Calcio Catania, Racing Club, Club Atlético de Madrid • Launched career as a combative midfielder with Vélez Sarsfield and was a full Argentinian international at 18, making debut in a July 1988 friendly against Australia; went on to play in three FIFA World Cups and retired as Argentina's most-capped player (106 appearances, 11 goals). Moved to Italy in 1990 to join Pisa; two years later he left for Sevilla, where he played under Argentina's 1986 World Cup-winning coach Carlos Bilardo and – for one season – alongside Diego Maradona. • Joined Atlético in 1994 and won the Spanish domestic double in his second season, his first major club honours to add to two Copa América titles (1991 and 1993) plus the 1992 FIFA Confederations Cup with Argentina. • Enjoyed further success after returning to Italy, winning the UEFA Cup with Inter, plus a and Coppa Italia double in his debut campaign with Lazio (1999/2000). After four years in Rome, he returned to Madrid for a second spell with Atlético before ending his playing career in Argentina with Racing Club. • Started coaching career with Racing Club and won Argentinian titles with Estudiantes (2006 Apertura) and River Plate (2008 Clausura); brief spells at San Lorenzo, Italian club Catania and Racing (again) preceded his appointment in December 2011 at Atlético. • Made immediate impact, leading them to victory in the 2012 UEFA Europa League final against Athletic Club and to a Copa del Rey final triumph over Real Madrid CF in 2013. Even better followed a year later as Atlético held off FC Barcelona and Madrid to win their first league title since 1996, although they fell agonisingly short against Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final in Lisbon.
