About Al Taliaferro. Al Taliaferro. Many of his strips were written by Bob Karp. He is best-known for his work on the Donald Duck comic strip, but he started his career lettering Walt Disneys Donald Duck: the Sunday Newspaper Comics: Volume 2 Mickey Mouse strips March - Julyand drew the Bucky Bug comics in as well as Silly Charles Alfred Taliaferroknown simply as Al Taliaferro, was a Disney comics artist who used to produce Disney comic strips for King Features Syndicate. He is best-known for his work on the Donald Duck comic strip, but he started his career lettering the Mickey Mouse strips March - Julyand drew the Bucky Bug comics in as well as Silly Symphonies pages from to He drew Donald Duck comic strips from until his death in in Glendale, California. On January 5, he was hired in Disney Studios as an animator, but soon transferred to the comic strip department. At its height the Donald Duck comic strips was published in newspapers. While many of Taliaferro's strips were reprinted in Disney comic books, in only a few instances did he do original artwork for comic books. The Taliaferros trace their origins to Northern Italy and were one the early families who settled in Virginia in the 17th century.     Donald Duck Has 225 Films To His Name National Donald Duck Day is observed annually on June 9th. This day commemorates the birthday of the funny animal cartoon character, Donald Duck. Donald made his first screen debut on June 9, 1934, in The Wise Little Hen. Donald Duck usually wears a sailor suit with a cap and a black or red bow tie and is most famous for his semi-intelligible speech along with his mischievous and irritable personality Donald Duck has appeared in more films than any other Disney character. Donald has 225 films to his name, according to IMDb. Donald was also declared in 2002 by TV Guide as one of the 50 greatest cartoon characters of all times. It was in Donald’s second appearance in Orphan’s Benefit that he was introduced to his comic friend, Mickey Mouse. Donald’s girlfriend, Daisy Duck, along with his nephews, Huey, Dewey, and Louie, were introduced shortly after that. In addition to animation, Donald is also known for his appearance in comic books and newspaper comic strips. One of Donald Duck’s famous sayings is “Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy.” The renowned early illustrators of Donald Duck were Al Taliaferro, Carl Barks and Don Rosa. Donald Duck first appeared as a drawing in a May 1934 issue of Good Housekeeping magazine promoting the film The Wise Little Hen. The magazine is sought after by collectors. Donald has gone on to star in seven feature films — which is more than any of his Disney counterparts. He is six years younger than Mickey Mouse.

    $49.99 (Different in Canada) Charles Alfred Taliaferro was born in Montrose, Colorado on August 29, 1905 and moved with his family to Glendale, California in 1918. “I knew I was going to be a cartoonist,” he told interviewer Jim Korkis in 1968. “I’ve always believed that if you want anything bad enough and you work hard enough for it, eventually you’ll get it.” In the middle of the Great Depression in 1931 he learned that the Walt Disney Studio had jobs available. “I went in and was hired on the spot: January 5, 1931,” he recalled. He then went on to draw the Silly Symphonies Sunday page, where on September 16, 1934 he first drew Donald Duck, the character with whom he would become forever associated.
