Please note that the list does not provide the contents of the records. Also, although it includes covering dates, the registers may not cover every year and there may be gaps in entries. In particular, there are large gaps in many of the bishop’s transcripts. Church of England records Parish registers We hold registers and records of parishes in the City and Deanery of Bristol (later the Archdeaconry of Bristol) which is part of the Diocese of Bristol. These cover: The city of Bristol Some parishes in southern Gloucestershire, north and east of Bristol A few parishes in north Somerset Some registers date from 1538, when parish registers were first introduced. Bishop’s transcripts We hold bishop’s transcripts for the areas listed above, as well as several Wiltshire parishes. We also hold microfiche copies of bishop’s transcripts for a few parishes in the Diocese of Bath and Wells. Bishop’s transcripts are a useful substitute when original registers have not survived. These lack of services are now severe hardship and isolation. WECA have a duty to provide a bus strategy and then to commission such services. This is a particular issue in rural communities such as the 179 which runs from Bath to Midsummer Norton which have no evening, Saturday or Sunday services. In Bristol the 36 and 96 have no evening or Sunday services. Also there are still gaps in provision that need addressing. Since the creation of the Combined Authority the powers and duties have transferred so we need to see adequate provision of services by the Combined Authority and the budget spent. There are also duties to work closely on cross boundary services especially with North Somerset. We also wish to see a prompt resolution to the MetroBus provision on the South Bristol loop. We welcome the T3 service at Bristol Parkway but the MetroBus infrastructure needs to be built rapidly as the service has started running.

The Chocolate Path Bristol We support plans to reinstate the path and make it fit for purpose for walking and cycling. 2. MetroWest We welcome the DfT and Metro Mayor study into the suburban rail network for Greater Bristol and the investment in Severn Beach – Westbury and the proposed Portishead – Westbury lines. We also welcome studies into Bristol – Gloucester and Bristol – Henbury Loop, noting that the Henbury loop will need a higher level of service if indeed the Arena is sited at Filton North Station. We feel it is very important to make progress for the City Region and we must ensure that all stations are fully accessible eg Lawrence Hill and Stapleton Road. 3. Congestion Task Group We welcome the work undertaken especially on bus priority and bus infrastructure and the potential Quick Wins on the A38 corridor. The Group worked on getting progress on Temple Meads station works which are now receiving funding. We believe that through Partnership working with First Bus division, First Rail division and Network Rail we are getting funding released and are making real progress.
