P E R F O R M A N C E S U P P L I E S Facemasks BLOCH B-SAFE FACE MASK All dancers will be required to purchase a face mask that is close to their skin color for performance and competition. At this time dancers will need to wear a face mask for Indy Dance Academy performances. While we are unsure if competitions will require dancers to wear masks, it is important that our dancers face masks do not take away from their costuming if they are asked to wear them. Suggested face masks are below: COCOA SAND BLOCH B-SAFE ADULT and CHILD FACE MASK IN COCOA OR SAND (see images above for color). Visit www.us.blochworld.com to purchase online or call Kinney Dancewear for availability at their store . Dancers are welcome to wear a different brand of face mask as long as it is close to their skin color and covers both their nose and mouth. All face masks will need to be secured with bobby pins. If face masks are worn for competition / performance dancers will NOT need to wear lipstick for performance. It is recommended that you purchase more than one face mask for performance in case one is lost or forgotten. FAQ's Will my dancer need to wear a mask on stage? A: At this time dancers are required to wear a face mask during IDA performances. For competitions, mask requirements will be announced in the competition outline emailed to you 1 week prior to competition. If a competition does not require dancers to wear a mask on stage it will be up to the dancer's discretion if they choose to wear a mask or not while performing. It is important to note that many competitions are planning on scheduling "studio blocks", to were all IDA's routines will be performed one after another and dancers will not be in contact with dancers from other studios. Why does my dancer need stage make-up? A: Distance between the performer and the audience. Dancer’s makeup needs to be dark enough to enhance facial features on stage. This allows the audience to see the dancer’s emotion from their seats. Stage lights can also “flatten” facial features and take away the dimension that help the audience see the dancer’s emotion. May my dancer wear their glasses onstage? A: Dancers may not wear glasses onstage. Why? Lenses reflect stage light. Not only does it make a glare in front of the dancer’s face to were the audience cannot see their eyes but it also can make it harder for dancers to see when they are walking into the light. It is important to see a performer’s full face emoting and telling a story while dancing. Glasses also can inhibit their movement; if a dancer's glasses were to somehow fall off of their face, it would then be distracting to the dancer, the audience and other dancers. Dancers are encouraged to practice without glasses when running their dance in rehearsal. Required Makeup and Supplies All Company & Team Dancers will need the following makeup and supplies for all performances and competitions. Eye Shadow Guide The goal for our dancer's eye make up is for their eyes to be exaggerated onstage. Please use the guide below as a base; your dancer's eye makeup may need to be adjusted due to eye shadow color and eye shape. Step 1: Apply base color (#2 Woodwinked) on the lid. Step 2: Apply color (#3 Charcoal Brown) in the crease of the eye Step 3: Apply color (#4 Brun) to the outer corner Step 4: Apply highlight color (#1 Brule) to the brow bone. Step 5: Blend Step 6: Use White liner and/ or highlight color (#1 Brule) to inner corner Step 7: Apply false eyelash close to natural lash (Amethyst & Emerald Dancers Skip this step) Step 8: Apply black liner to upper and lower lid Step 9: Apply mascara to blend false lashes to natural lashes. Step 10: Apply brow color to define eyebrow. This is the crease.
