A total of 18 whitefly species belonging to 8 genera from the subfamily Aleyrodinae were collected and identified, of which two species, Bemisia takahashii (DANZIG) and Pealius rubi TAKAHASHI, are newly recorded from Iran. Also, 8 hymenopteran species belonging to 2 genera from Aphelinidae, as well as one species from Eulophidae were reared as their parasitoids. MARTIN & MOUND (2007) catalogued the whiteflies of the world and listed 1556 species in 161 genera from three subfamilies, Aleurodicinae, Aleyrodinae and Udamoselinae. The subfamily Aleurodicinae is primarily distributed in New World and includes 118 species in 18 genera; the subfamily Aleyrodinae is worldwide in distribution and includes 1424 species in 148 genera, and the subfamily Udamoselinae includes 2 South American species in a single genus Udamoselis (EVANS 2008). The generic classification of the Aleyrodidae is based on the structure of the fourth larval instar, the so-called pupal case, not on the structure of adults.

Therefore, the detection of PVY strains in tuber is very important for undertaking appropriate measures to prevent them. Considering that potato cultivation is growing in Guilan and Mazandaran provinces, the goal of the current study is to investigate Potato Virus Y Strains in Guilan and Mazandaran Provinces in Iran. Consequently, 588 tuber samples were collected randomly in summer 2013. After the dormancy period at 7°C, the samples were transferred to a greenhouse to germinate at 25°C. Then, polyclonal antibodies were used to examine buds. Afterwards, samples with the highest absorption in the wavelength were selected. Finally, it was found that 73 samples were infected by PVY. The extracts taken from infected plants were inoculated. To study symptoms necrotic spots were extracted and inoculated into Tobacco (Nicotiana tabaccum var samsun), Physalis Commun (Physalis floridana) and Potato (Solanum tuberosum) after 7 days. Simultaneously, leaf extracts were examined for potato virus y strains using monoclonal antibodies. The results of biological, serological and molecular tests indicated that 17 isolates belonged to PVYO, 30 isolates belonged to PVYN, 12 isolates belonged to PVYC and 14 isolates belonged to PVYNTN.

  • Further Records of Ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) from Iran
Zoology in the Middle East, 2018 http://dx.doi.org/10.1080/09397140.2018.1442301 Further records of ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) from Iran Shahrokh Pashaei Rada, Brian Taylorb, Roshanak Torabia, Ebrahim Arama, Giti Abolfathia, Rezvan Afsharia, Fatemeh Borjalia, Maryam Ghateia, Fouzihe Hediarya, Farzaneh Jazinia, Vala Heidary Kiaha, Zeynab Mahmoudia, Fatemeh Safariyana and Maryam Seiria aDepartment of Zoology, Faculty of Biological Science, Shahid Beheshti University, Teheran; bWilford, Nottingham, United Kingdom (Received 18 January 2018; accepted 13 February 2018) Wide ranging surveys of the ant fauna of Iran have enabled us to add a further 30 named species to the country list. A review of almost all the published literature and of photographs of unidentified specimens within the public domain gives a grand total of 248 species, from seven subfamilies and 37 genera. In the majority of instances, our own specimens were compared with type images available from antweb.com. This has led us to propose new or revised status for Cataglyphis turcomanica Crawley 1920, Lepisiota integrisquama (Kuznetsov-Ugamsky, 1929), Lepisiota surchanica (Kuz- netsov-Ugamsky, 1929) and Messor obscurior Crawley 1920. We note that the total includes a number of what may be misidentifications and a small number of named species that seem unlikely to occur in Iran. Keywords: Iran; ant distribution; Formicidae Introduction We have endeavoured to summarise records of ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) from Iran. Our findings are additional to those in Moradloo, Fard,

  • The Effect of Infrastructural Integration of Regional Transport on Tourism Promotion: the Case of Guilan Province, Iran
Journal of Urban and Regional Analysis, vol. XII, 2, 2020, p. 217 - 231 https://doi.org/10.37043/JURA.2020.12.2.6 THE EFFECT OF INFRASTRUCTURAL INTEGRATION OF REGIONAL TRANSPORT ON TOURISM PROMOTION: THE CASE OF GUILAN PROVINCE, IRAN Mohammad MALEKI1, Saber MOHAMMADPOUR1, Seyed Reza AZADEH2 1University of Guilan, Rasht, Iran, 2University of Isfahan, Isfahan, Iran Abstract: This article examines the impacts of infrastructural integration of regional transport (IIRT) on tourism and the idea of using IIRT to promote tourism. The process of striving for IIRT requires a number of factors to be operationalized, among which the most common are: multimodal terminals (MMT), shared stops (SST), highway construction and improvement (HCI), and railway construction and improvement (RCI). The aim of this article is to evaluate the impacts of IIRT factors on the factors which lead towards the promotion of tourism. The results showed that Guilan province, despite of profiting with all four major transportation modes, has a lack of infrastructural integration among all transportation modes. Furthermore, it was concluded that IIRT can have a significant effect on the promotion of tourism and it can be used as an approach to promote the tourism industry of Guilan province with using several strategies in this regard. Key Words: infrastructural integration, regional transport, tourism promotion, Guilan province. Introduction Tourism is considered as one of the most important industries and its promotion plays a central role in development (Najdawi 2009, Wang and Chen 2015, Zhang et al. 2015). According to some estimates, tourism accounts for between six and seven percent of the global gross domestic product and for 1 in 11 jobs, making it the world’s largest industry.
