Transfer to Mahketi

The Manor Museum «The Eagle’s Nest» near the picturesque village of Makhketi is a place which we definitely advise you to include in the program of visiting the Chechen Republic.

A long time ago in the village of Makhketi there lived a man called Ibak. Once, returning home from haymaking on one of the slopes of high hills, an amazing story happened to him! On the hill that the locals called «THE EAGLE’S NEST», A LEGEND FROZEN IN STONE

«eagle», as these freedom-loving birds nested there, and no one dared to disturb the dwelling of a proud bird, a lone wolf unexpectedly attacked Ibak. He fought the predator with all his might, but the forces were not equal, and it seemed that the fate of Ibak was sealed ... But, suddenly, like a stone from the sky, a huge eagle flew over the wolf and grabbed its sharp claws at the head of the beast, trying to tear it away from the leg of Ibak. The fight lasted until the wolf ran away, leaving Ibak blooding.

The eagle fluttered up and continued flying over Ibak until he reached the village. The news of the miraculous salvation of the neighbor from the apparent death by an eagle quickly dispersed in the district. The rescued man himself, as a token of gratitude to the proud bird, promised to build a tower on that hill. Unfortunately, he did not manage to realize his dream, but he gave instruction to his son. For various reasons, his son was not able to fulfil his 15father’s treasured instruction. So, this legend and covenant that someday a tower should be built at this place was handed down.

As we know, the Chechen people had to suffer a lot: wars, deportations and wars again ... But even hundreds of years later, the have not forgotten the instructions of their fathers. So, after several generations, a descendant of Ibak called Sheikhi could fulfil the dream of his distant ancestor. When the tower reached the fifth floor, another incredible event happened: an eagle built a nest on the top of the tower and got chicks.

Today, the Manor Museum «The Eagle’s Nest» is the best place to relax from the city bustle. Here you can not only plunge into the history and culture of the Chechens, but also enjoy the warm atmosphere of a cozy restaurant of national cuisine, smell the fresh wood and the wood crackling in the fireplace, and also try the dishes prepared from natural and ecological products.

Welcome to the Chechen Republic! The ancient land of Vainakh will give you strength and energy, fill your soul with peace and nobility!
