Dear Fellow Broadcaster: Welcome to the newest edition of the Graduate Bulletin from Vincennes University’s Broadcasting Department. It introduces our graduates from May, August, and December of 2008. This Bulletin is also available online. You can access it in three easy steps: • Visit the VU website at vinu.edu • At the VU homepage word search “Broadcasting” • Select Grad Bulletin This is the first year that our students are required to have completed both the Production and Sales track for graduation. Our Advisory Committee has informed us over the past two years that stations are looking for employees who can perform a variety of tasks, especially in the TV reporting area. Our students will be able to shoot ENG, write their own script, do a stand-up, and edit their own footage. In addition, after our graduates pass the Radio Marketing Professional (RMP) test, they will continue to be certified by the Radio Advertising Bureau. WVUB-FM has taken the leap into high-definition broadcasting. WVUB-The Blazer continues to be extremely popular in southern Indiana. Now we offer WVUB HD-2 with a Cool Jazz format. To listen to WVUB HD-2, go to vinu.edu and click on “WVUB HD-2 Plays Cool Jazz” on the left side of the page near the bottom. Vincennes University continues to give students a hands-on education from the very first week of classes. In the opening week of labs, our students learn the operation of studio cameras and audio boards. VU Broadcasting is far from “theory” oriented. We keep our equipment as state-of-the-art as possible.

Launched in 2011, the Indiana News Service is part of a network of independent public interest state-based news services pioneered by Public News Service. Our mission is an informed and engaged citizenry making educated decisions in service to democracy; and our role is to inform, inspire, excite and sometimes reassure people in a constantly changing environment through reporting spans political, geographic and technical divides. Especially valuable in this turbulent climate for journalism, currently 108 news outlets in Indiana and neighboring markets regularly pick up and redistribute our stories. Last year, an average of 21 media outlets used each Indiana News Service story. These include outlets like the WFBQ-FM Clear Channel Indianapolis, WNDE-AM Clear Channel Indianapolis, WBNI-FM NPR, WBOI-FM NPR, WSJV- TV Fox Northern IN, WRTV-TV ABC Indianapolis, Indiana Herald and Indianapolis Recorder. Making a Difference Our ability to support a vibrant democracy and stay educated on the issues that affect our lives is challenged by increasingly fragmented media with under-resourced newsrooms.

Vincennes University 2004 Graduate Bulletin Broadcasting • Broadcast Sales About the Cover TOP: “He’s wild, he’s crazy, he’s Insane Dane -- host of the “Three Song Throw Down” on WVUB-FM.” This quote comes from a description of Dane Foley’s on-air persona, made in a faculty letter nominating him for an Indiana Career & Technical Education Award for Excellence. In February, Dane became the VU Broadcasting Department’s recipient of this award for 2004, the department’s fourth consecutive winner. Dane joined the Broadcasting program in the Fall semester of 2002. He quickly became an asset in the department, through his class participation, his volunteerism, and his willingness to help other students. Dane’s volunteer efforts and achievements include a volunteer Friday night radio show dubbed “Request Blazers Best” on WVUB-FM, our 50,000 watt public radio station; numerous volunteer “remote” broadcasts on WVUB; working as a board operator for basketball games and other on-air shifts; training second year students preparing for their shifts on WVUB; peer tutoring in the Broadcasting Department; and gathering, writing, and recording news for WVUB. In June, 2003, Dane was hired as the student Assistant Program Director of WVUB-FM. LEFT: Terri Darlington is News Anchor, and Bo McFall is Sports Anchor, as part of their responsibilities for WVUT-TVs Evening Newscast. Both Terri and Bo have achieved great success in the Broadcasting Department; both have served as peer tutors. Terri holds a 4.0 GPA, and is preparing to earn a Radio Marketing Professionals Certificate from the Radio Advertising Bureau.

July 6, 2017 Marlene H. Dortch Secretary Federal Communications Commission 445 12th Street, S.W. Washington, D.C. 20554 Re: Notice of Ex Parte Communication, GN Docket No. 12-268, MB Docket No. 16-306. Dear Ms. Dortch: In an effort to help its radio members better understand and prepare for the impacts of the post-auction transition of repacked television stations, NAB commissioned a study to determine which FM stations are likely to need to coordinate with TV stations making adjustments following the Incentive Auction. This analysis identifies 678 FM stations that may need to reduce power, shut down, or operate from an auxiliary facility as work is being done on a neighboring TV station antenna to ensure tower worker safety from radio frequency exposure. A copy of this analysis is attached. We look forward to working with the Commission to ensure the smoothest possible transition for broadcast viewers and listeners.
