Editor’s Message

Dan Cole — Editor Absaroka Arrow

Hello,

Well as you can see there is a new editor. After 37 issues of the Absaroka Arrow and a first place win at the 60th Porsche Parade Newsletter Contest Jo has decided she needs a break. So, I’ll take over in the interim unless there is someone else out there that would like to take over the Editor Position. Thank you Jo for all the hard work as editor these past 37 issues.

At the recent PCA Board of Directors Meeting in Carson, CA we had a presentation from the PCA Social Media Chair about Facebook and guarding our personal information. A couple of those items that stood out was posting of people’s addresses on Facebook and in our newsletters, and pictures of cars and their license plates at DEs and other speed type events. She said we should be more careful in this area. So going forward we’re going to work hard at protecting that information for all of us. It’s a challenge with phone numbers because we need folks to be able to get in touch with us, as its how we grow.

In each issue of the newsletter we try to find information that helps you all to enjoy your membership in PCA and the Absaroka Region more. If there are things you’d like to see in the newsletter, just let me know and we can work on it. After all the goal is to have a publication that keeps us all informed on what’s happening, when, and also have some fun along the way.

It’s nice to see folks interested in going to Parade. I know it’ll be a fun time and a great chance to explore Spokane, Coeur d’Alene and the rolling plains of the Palouse of north- ern Idaho, my home state. Get out and about and use it as an opportunity to meet oth- er Porsche Club members from all over the nation you’ll be rewarded for it I’m sure. We’ll have more on Parade in the next issue.

See you at the Tech Session.

Stephanie’s President’s Message

Stephanie Haider —- President Absaroka Region

March 1, 2017

Hello,

Spring is officially only 20 days away. Let’s hope for some good driving weather soon.

First of all I would like to say a huge thank you to Dan and Jo for hosting the Baked Potato Party. It was another great turnout with 20 members attending. Thanks to you all for sharing your wonderful dishes and company. It truly is the people that drive this club.

Our event this month is the Tech Session at MARS. It will be March 18th from 10 to 12. There will be demonstrations on their car care products as well as their chip re- pair, so if you are interested in either please plan on attending. We will draw names for both demonstrations so bring your dirty, road rash car for some TLC. We will pro- vide muffins and coffee. Please let me know if you plan on attending so I know how many muffins to buy. MARS is located at 161 Moore Lane., Billings, MT 59101

For April we will be heading to Big Horn, WY to the Brinton Museum. This place looks intriguing. Then we will go back to Sheridan and have lunch at Sanford Grub Pub and Brewery. We will be leaving from the Flying J in Lockwood. Please arrive at 8:30 for a 9:00 am departure.

Porsche Parade registration is now open for lodging. Several of us are staying at the Davenport Towers in Spokane. This is one of the host hotels. There are also several other hotels in the vicinity. So far we have over a half a dozen members registered so far. I hope we can have some of us caravan together. Stay tuned for updates as they become available.

I hope to see you at breakfast on March 11.

Stephanie

Treasure Hunter Blue Nelson’s passion for the brand Porsche was ignited on the very first day of his life: his parents drove him home from the hospital in a 356 Roadster.

The reason is immediately clear. Two soft objects lie on the tank. They are nests made out of the stuffing in the car’s seats. Between them, on the tank cover, lies the desiccated body of a dead rat. Nelson pulls a second rat—this one very much alive—from the nest on the left and holds it up by the tail to the light. Henry DeWitt passed away decades ago, and his widow Joan had recently advertised his 356 for $30,000 on the advice of a specialist. “Experts,” mutters Nelson with scorn.
