Mushtaque Ahmad, Secretary General, Hockey India The enre naon is thrilled about the 2016 Rio Olympics, and the month of August is eagerly awaited, as the Indian Hockey Teams head for the ulmate prize. It fills me with immense pride to see the much deserved aenon that Indian Hockey has garnered globally owing to all the dazzling recent performances of our naonal teams. In a gliering felicitaon ceremony on 12th July 2016, Hockey India announced the 16 member squads of the Men and Women Hockey Teams that will represent Team India at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Mr. Amit Shah, President BJP graced the occasion as Chief Guest for the funcon, Mr. Vijay Goel, Sports Minister, Govt: of India and Mr. Leandro Negre President FIH also announced and honoured all selected players from the men and women hockey teams. With the Indian men’s team recently climbing to fih in the FIH World Rankings and with their recent Silver medal winning performance at FIH Champions Trophy will parcipate in the Rio Olympics with much confidence. I am heartened to see our Indian Women's Hockey Team making their first Olympic appearance since Moscow 1980, the team is led by the formidable defender Sushila Chanu. I wish the Indian Women hockey team plays with an intensified spirit at Rio and inspires women hockey players in India. Being the largest conngent ever from India at the Olympic Games all eyes will be set on the Indian Hockey teams. We at Hockey India send our hearest wishes to both the Indian Hockey Teams and to the enre Indian conngent parcipang in the Olympics and we are confident that they will connue to make India proud. -
