The driving forces are the external and internal pressures, such as demand from the public and society, from governments, stakeholders and shareholders, as well as from NGOs, activists, and the industry- intern economic competition between the airlines. Within the scope of this research, the main focus was on the research question: How can the variation in the claims of sustainable measures reported in the 2018 annual reports and sustainability reports by four different European airlines be explained from the characteristics of the airlines and of the countries in which the airlines are registered?. The ecosystem for the conducted analyses consists of four airlines from four different countries in the European Union. Seven sustainability parameters were chosen in order to objectively analyze the sustainability reporting of the airlines and of their countries of registrations. The parameters are: (I) alternative fuel, (II) CORSIA, (III) aviation tax, (IV) aircraft age, (V) aircraft design, (VI) Dow Jones Sustainability Index, and (VII) atmosfair Airline Index. -

11 May 2021 | 1100 hrs | 087/2021 The number of fi nal deeds of sale relating to residential property during April 2021 amounted to 1,130, an increase of 540 deeds when compared to those registered a year earlier. In April 2021, 1,430 promise of sale agreements relating to residential property were registered, an increase of 1,161 agreements over the same period last year. Residential Property Transactions: April 2021 Cut-off date: Final Deeds of Sale 4 May 2021 In April 2021, the number of fi nal deeds of sale relating to residential property amounted to 1,130, an increase of 540 deeds when compared to those registered a year earlier (Table 1). The value of these deeds totalled €228.4 million, 91.6 per cent higher than the corresponding value recorded in April 2020 (Table 2). With regard to the region the property is situated in, the highest numbers of fi nal deeds of sale were recorded in the two regions of Mellieħa and St Paul’s Bay, and Ħaż-Żabbar, Xgħajra, Żejtun, Birżebbuġa, Marsaskala and Marsaxlokk, at 150 and 143 respectively. The lowest numbers of deeds were noted in the region of Cottonera, and the region of Mdina, Ħad-Dingli, Rabat, Mtarfa and Mġarr. In these regions, 13 and 32 deeds respectively were recorded (Table 3). Chart 1. Response Document to Notices of Proposed Amendment No. 2008-17A and NPA No. 2008-17B Comments Prior to an examination of the proposed amendments to Part FCL as proposed in NPA No. 2009-17B, due regard must be had to the contents of the Draft Opinion [NPA No. 2008-17A]. It is clearly understood, as declared in paragraph 2 of the Draft Opinion, that : “The European Aviation Safety Agency (the Agency) is directly involved in the rule -shaping process” in accordance with the functions set out in the Basic Regulation 1. The European Aviation Safety Agency, being an Agency of the European Union, does not have the function to enact law, however it is understood to be a duty of the Agency to present to the institution of the European Union a view of the matter being addressed which is correct and to forward proposals which are coherent with EU policy, in particular that any measures adopted are in conformity with the principle of proportionality. The aims pursued are the subject of the Basic Regulation – in a generic manner – as well as the Terms of Reference ToR FCL.001 reproduced in the Draft Opinion [NPA No. 2008-17A].These terms of reference are, inter alia : - “to establish in the form of essential requirements, high level safety objectives to be achieved by the regulations of pilot licensing” - “to require all pilots operating in the Community to hold a licence attesting compliance with common safety requirement covering their theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as they physical fitness” Whereas AOPA Malta agrees with the adoption of a harmonized approach to regulation on a European level to address the issue of pilot licensing in accordance with the terms of reference, it emphasis that all such regulation must conform with the principle of proportionality. -

CORSIA Aeroplane Operator to State Attributions This is a preliminary version of the ICAO document “CORSIA Aeroplane Operator to State Attributions” that has been prepared to support the timely implementation of CORSIA from 1 January 2019. It contains aeroplane operators with international flights, and to which State they are attributed, based on information reported by States by 30 November 2018 in accordance with the Environmental Technical Manual (Doc 9501), Volume IV – Procedures for Demonstrating Compliance with the CORSIA, Chapter 3, Table 3-1. Terms used in the tables on the following pages are: • Aeroplane Operator Name is the full name of the aeroplane operator as reported by the State; • Attribution Method is one of three options as selected by the State: "ICAO Designator", "Air Operator Certificate" or "Place of Juridical Registration" in accordance with Annex 16 – Environmental Protection, Volume IV – Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA), Part II, Chapter 1, 1.2.4; and • Identifier is associated with each Attribution Method as reported by the State: o If the Attribution Method is "ICAO Designator", the Identifier is the aeroplane operator's three-letter designator according to ICAO Doc 8585; o If the Attribution Method is "Air Operator Certificate", the Identifier is the number of the AOC (or equivalent) of the aeroplane operator; o If the Attribution Method is "Place of Juridical Registration", the Identifier is the name of the State where the aeroplane operator is registered as juridical person. 8 July 2021 | 1100 hrs | 120/2021 Micro, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) accounted for 69.3% of the combined Personnel Costs and Gross Operating Surplus (GOS) generated by the non-financial business economy in 2019, compared to a share of 68.3% in 2018. Structural Business Statistics: 2019 Cut-off date: In 2019, the non-financial business economy in Malta incorporating Industry, Construction, Wholesale and retail 30 June 2021 trade and Services activities generated €3,882.1 million in GOS (or profits) and paid out €3,328.1 million in Personnel costs to its employees. SMEs registered an increase in these two variables of 13.0 and 10.3 per cent respectively, when compared to 2018. Large enterprises earned €1,218.3 million in GOS and when compared to the other three size categories of SMEs independently, they contributed to the highest values of Turnover, Production and Personnel costs. The largest share (31.4 per cent) of Persons employed in Malta were employed with micro enterprises (Table 2). Chart 1. The news comes as Ryanair overhauls its operations into distinct operations, mirroring a set- up by British Airways owner IAG.
