Kabbalistically, it’s linked both to Rosh Hashanah and the upcoming New Year. For us, it’s also the Yahrtzeit-Hilula of Rav Levi Yitzchok Schneerson, the Rebbe’s saintly father who was the faithful Torah Leader in Ukraine, defying the Soviet tyrants by keeping Yiddishkeit alive. Despite their arrest, torture and exile at a remote gulag; and, despite his suffering of inhumane conditions that tragically caused his premature death ... his spirit prevails in Chabad.
