Research Grant Guidelines

Research/Awards Subcommittee The Research/Awards Subcommittee of the Leadership Succession Committee consists of three appointed chapter members and others (as appointed) who have experience in nursing education and/or research. The Research/Awards Subcommittee reviews all research grant applications, and recommends the award of grants and allocation of funds; monitors fund usage by grant recipients and secures reports of research for public distribution. A five-year record is kept of all research grant recipients, including recipients’ names and addresses, amounts of awards, and the criteria used for selection of recipients. The Chapter’s Board of Directors acts upon the recommendations of the Research/Awards Subcommittee based upon availability of funds for scholarships. The Chapter Treasurer distributes research grant money to the recipients.

Purpose of the Research Award The Theta Pi Chapter awards research grants to encourage research by current Theta Pi Chapter members including qualified nurses, and/or those enrolled in a graduate degree program in nursing or a doctoral program who are conducting research to advance knowledge relevant to nursing. The purpose of the award is to encourage research by qualified nurses and/or graduate nursing students who are conducting research to advance knowledge relevant to nursing. The grant may be used for any legitimate expense associated with the study. The fund provides money for one or more research grants annually.
