8 Years with Running Man Running Man Is a Popular Korean Variety Show Both Getting Tired of the Repeated Concepts

The show peaked in popularity from 2011 to 2013 with a rating of 21% at its highest. However, people were 8 Years with Running Man Running Man is a popular Korean variety show both getting tired of the repeated concepts. To restore its 22 Han Hye-jin and past glory,the show welcomed two new cast members Lee Dong-Wook guest domestically and oversea. Every week, the members compete (Highest ratings) with each other in diverse games such as name tag ripping or in 2017: Jeon So-Min and Yang Se-Chan. During the 20 following year, the producers reduced the number of Lee Seung-Gi ddakji. Over its 8 years run on SBS, hundreds of celebrities and Moon Chae guests and increased the number of long term projects. This study takes its starting point in the questions of what caused the Korean conflict, and what role the Bible has played in the divided Korean church and society. In order to find answers to these questions, this study is carried out in several steps. The first step is to explore just peace and imperial peace in the Bible as a conceptual framework. The second step seeks to reconstruct the history of Korean Christianity, the relationship between church and state, and the impact of American church and politics from postcolonial perspective. As the third step, this study focuses on the homiletical discourses of Korean megachurches in terms of their relation to the dominant ideologies, such as anticommunism, national security, pro-Americanism, and economic prosperity.

Analysis of the global-local-global strategy in K-pop music videos Yasmine El Ouahi Hajji Tutor: Núria Vergés Bosch Bachelor’s Degree in International Business Faculty of Economics and Business University of Barcelona ABSTRACT K-pop music videos are a global sensation that are breaking YouTube streaming records since the virality of the hit single ‘Gangnam Style’ by PSY in 2012. After that, South Korean pop music artists and bands such as BTS or BLACKPINK kept dominating international charts and winning the admiration of millions of fans through their music videos. According to academic researchers, this was made possible because of a unique internationalization strategy called global-local-global which consists of the hybridity of cultural product by combining global production factors to a South Korean product with the goal of reaching an international audience by using a foreign distributor channel (YouTube). To understand the characteristics and evolution of this method, K-pop music videos with most YouTube views of each year from 2012 up to 2020 where analyzed. The aspects discussed and their respective evolution throughout the years were the nationality of the K-pop music videos producers, the identification of Korean and foreign elements in the visuals, the use of English in the lyrics, music style, the artists looks and also the use of YouTube digital tools. From the analysis of the music videos, the factors that did help with the popularity of K-pop where the progressive increase of English in the lyrics compared to Korean, the quality camerawork and great scenography together with the use of choreographies and YouTube hashtags and subtitles.

[email protected] ABSTRACT This study is a part of register research aimed at investigating the functions of English terms in Korean Popular Music (K-Pop). There are many English terms used in K-Pop, and those terms are assumed to have some purposes. The researcher completed this study through several phases called data gathering, data analysis, and data presentation. The present study reveals that there are at least eleven functions of English terms in K-Pop. The terms are utilized for promoting the singers’ music projects, showing self as something different from the others, communicating briefly, praising the singers’ physical appearances, appreciating the singers’ achievements, giving comment on the singers’ attitudes, commenting on the singers’ fashions, joking, giving appreciation to the music agencies, appreciating the fans, and showing hatred toward the singers.
