Niet te kloppen" 31-01-2006 Pag. 57 Het voorbije weekend werd ze tijdens De Nachten in deSingel 'de Anaïs Nin van de Benelux' genoemd, 'de beste softpornoster ever', 'muze', 'cultfiguur' en 'Emmanuelle', maar eigenlijk heet ze Sylvia Kristel (53). De actrice en beeldend kunstenares las in uiterst decent donkergrijs broekpak voor uit de aan haar opgedragen debuutbundel van de Antwerpse Jess De Gruyter. "Ik hou vooral van spannend proza", zegt La Kristel. "Een mysterie waarom al die jonge dichters mij blijven vinden." Sylvia Kristel, 32 jaar later, geeft tips voor opvolgsters nieuwe filmreeks Het mysterie heeft vermoedelijk een naam en wel deze: Emmanuelle. "Tough to beat!", zegt Sylvia Kristel. "Niet te kloppen. Ik ben gebombardeerd tot liefdesicoon door de inmiddels derde generatie! Ik krijg nog steeds mails en brieven, genre: 'Ons huwelijk is gered, dank u!' Ik vind het fijn om opnieuw die oude foto's te zien, van toen ik nog niet in de gaten had dat ik het aanzien waard was." Kent u nog tekst uit het hoofd van de Emmanuelle-films? Je veux te boire. Twintig dames en evenveel heren zullen elkaar bekampen in de categorieën erotische scènes, het fonetisch nabootsen van orgasmes, strippen, telefoonseks en worstelen in een nat T-shirt... Echt? Nou, toch even producer Alain Siritzky bellen. Ik heb me bedacht: ik wil best in die jury. U speelde in de jaren zeventig. Zou u met de leeftijd van toen in 2006 opnieuw ja zeggen? Nee. En ach, in de seventies was alles zo romantisch, naïef, onschuldig nog. Esthetisch ook. De teksten zullen nu vast scherper zijn dan de pure mannenfantasie die een Franse diplomaatsvrouw onder het pseudoniem Emmanuelle Arsan uitschreef. Ik heb het met vrij simpele teksten moeten doen. De nieuwe Emmanuelle zal explicieter zijn. Heeft u tips voor de solliciterende Emmanuelles? Ik was een argeloos meisje toen ik eraan begon. De nieuwe Emmanuelle zal van wanten moeten weten. De camera moet verliefd op je kunnen zijn en jij moet de camera kunnen voelen. Je moet het licht kunnen vangen, je moet het spannend maken voor de kijker. Je moet het zo kunnen spelen dat het publiek met je mee verlangt. U bent duidelijk cult geworden, onder anderen voor de schrijvers Oscar van den Bogaard en De Gruyter. Geweldig is dat. Ik word sowieso graag bewonderd. Mijn cultfiguren? Dennis Hopper. Behalve naughty boy is hij acteur, producent, schrijver. Ook Ramses Shaffy is cult én multitalent. Wat vindt u van al die jonge dichters die na Hugo Claus bij bosjes voor u blijven vallen? Hoogst eigenaardig. Ik hoop dat ik zo geëerd word tot het eind van mijn dagen. Zo verdien je nog een centje. U heeft de jongste tijd veel pijn gehad: van keelkanker tot het verlies van uw partner, de Belgische W.F. Hermansspecialist Freddy de Vree. Geestelijke pijn is erger. Ik ben redelijk sterk, maar twee verliezen na elkaar: én je minnaar én je beste kameraad (filmmaker Wim Verstappen, red.) is niet min. Troost vond ik in een vallend boek; ik ben helemaal niet zo'n dromer, maar op een nacht viel een boek van W.F. Hermans, dat als een soldaatje tussen de andere banden zat, uit mijn boekenkast. Daar bleken twee ansichten in de zitten: eentje van Freddy. Een van Wim. U bent ook bezig met uw biografie, met de Franse schrijver-zakenman Jean Arcelin. Jazeker, het wordt een portret van mijn geboorte tot mijn dood. Deel 1 dan (lacht). Waarom mijn biografie in Frankrijk uitkomt? Uitgeverijen Bruna en De Bezige Bij hebben me gevraagd, maar ach, ik ben niet zo goed gezien in Nederland als in Frankrijk. En ben ik mijn carrière niet daar begonnen? Voor september wil u ook nog vijftig doeken klaar hebben? Miniatuurtjes noem ik ze, van 40 op 60. Ik werk liever op grote doeken, maar dat lukt niet in mijn woonkamer. Ik heb geen geld voor een atelier. Ik moet tegenwoordig alles zelf doen: ik heb geen manager meer die alles voor me uit de handen neemt. BEREAVEMENT: CONTEMPORARY SCIENTIFIC PERSPECTIVES FOR RESEARCHERS AND PRACTITIONERS Emmanuelle ZECH & Margaret STROEBE Université catholique de Louvain & University of Utrecht, The Netherlands The death rate within the European Union is 9.6/1000, which is about the same as it is in North America (8.4 for 2009 in the Unites States of America, see CIA World Factbook, 2010). In concrete terms, this means that about 100,000 of the total population of 10 million Belgian people die each year (in fact, the death rate in Belgium is a bit higher, 10.5/1000). The 2001 the Belgian Health Interview Survey indicated that the relationship or social support network of Belgian citizens is composed of a mean number of 9 per- sons (Gisle, Buziarsist, Van der Heyden, Demarest, Miermans, Sartor et al., 2002). As a consequence, a rough estimation of the number of persons who become bereaved each year in Belgium is 945,000 (i.e., 9.5% of the Belgian population). In fact, the death of a loved one is an experience that occurs some time or other in nearly everyone’s life. Many of us will suffer multiple losses long before we reach old age, when such events occur with increasing frequency. We will lose our grandparents, parents, siblings, or close friends and romantic partners through death. Bereavement is a very frequent phe- nomenon, and as the contributions to this Special Issue will make amply clear, it is a personally impactful life event for most people. Before presenting this Special Issue, it is useful to distinguish and define some basic terms and concepts that pertain to this area of research.
