Once again Cerritos College will join forces with the California Coastal Commission, the Long Beach Parks Recreation and Marine Department, El Dorado Nature Center and the American Plastics Council in the 18th Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers stemming from over 400 locations throughout the state will clean debris from all 1,100 miles of the California coasts. They will also clean the shorelines of many of the bays, creeks, rivers and lakes that transfer trash and debris to the Pacific Ocean. "We try to reach as far inland as possible on Coastal Cleanup Day, in order to stop trash where it starts," said Eben Schwartz, the statewide outreach coordinator for the California Coastal Comm ission.
