I actually marked a passage in here because it was so earnest and awful, so I'll share it with you: "With a Nebulon-B frigate, the dorsal shield generator is a big array of linked generators, with power cells that are reasonably well protected. And check the chief engineer's quarters helpfully sketched out on the opposite page at least I think that's what's sketched on the opposite page - when I was a kid I found schematics for four different models of the New Republic starfighter in a datapad. May 30, Onna rated it it was amazing. It was so cool to read about Jakku and how Rey lived there before we see her appear in The Force Awakens. I think kids will especially love the detailed pictures of the ships and equipment she uses. The font is a bit hard to read because they used a handwriting like style to give it the journal feel. It was kinda hard to make out the writing against the backgrounds on a lot of the sketches in the journal, but that aside, it was awesome to read! A must read for any Star Wars fan! You don't have to It was so cool to read about Jakku and how Rey lived there before we see her appear in The Force Awakens. You don't have to be a kid to enjoy this. Feb 05, Danielle Marie rated it really liked it. Rey of Jakku is the loneliest person in the galaxy next to Kylo Ren. I loved this. In-character diaries like this can sometimes be dry or out of character but Jason Fry did a great job of keeping this in Rey's voice. Rey goes on tangents and reveals much about herself with her personal experiences as she describes the world around her. It's short and sweet. Definitely more a YA audience but I'm a grown ass woman who liked so. I got it descriptive about survival of Rey's character in Jakku before the event of the "last trilogy". Even it was for middle grade readers but eventually it suitable for any reader to know Rey better by "her own words". I really liked how this book uniquely presented and worth to be collected. I didn't exactly have high expectations, but was wanting to know more about Rey and one of the other Force Awakens books, Before the Awakening had a really good story about Rey. This one is more of a journal with a few random stories and a couple interesting bits the story behind her helmet and rebel pilot doll—but don't get excited, it's like a two-sentence story. I'm sure the kids like it the intended audience , but it's not exactly for me. Fortunately, I do and I found this to be an absorbing and fascinating treasure trove of Star Wars trivia. As well some history and geography of Jakku from the perspective of Rey. Jun 08, Paula rated it it was amazing. Rey is introduced as a year-old woman in The Force Awakens. Matthew Yglesias of Vox wrote, "Rey is considerably less callow than Luke". It's all the complexities of a human. It's because she is a well-drawn person who is struggling with things and you're with her. Rey is highly Force-sensitive, which is revealed when she is presented with the lightsaber first owned by Anakin Skywalker , then his son Luke. Rey is first introduced as an orphan living alone on the desert planet Jakku , scraping a living through scavenging parts from ships. She saves Finn and they escape the freighter in the Falcon. Impressed with Rey's bravery and piloting skill, Han offers her a job on the Falcon; however, Rey declines his offer, feeling that she has to return to Jakku. Rey visits the castle's basement vault in which Maz has stored a lightsaber that once belonged to Luke Skywalker Mark Hamill and his father before him.

The Silver Speeder failed to live up to its name after it came into the possession of the bounty hunter Boba Fett, who repainted in subdued shades of mostly gray and green to make it less conspicuous. The enclosed cockpit had room for a single passenger in addition to the pilot.
