Stupify. Stupify is the 3rd track -and 1st single- from Disturbed's 1st album The Sickness. Contents. Music Video [ ] The video for the song features the band performing the song in a rusted cellar-like room, inter-cut with footage of a young boy sitting in the same room. As the song progresses, the boy is revealed to be haunted by demon-like creatures. The video makes extensive use of a visual effect commonly called "fast-head," first seen in Jacob's Ladder . Meaning and Lyrics [ ] Meaning [ ] This song is about racism in all forms. David Draiman stated that when he was young, he dated a Latina girl, and her parents never approved of him being of Jewish descent. The single word repeated during the Bridge, "tefached," is Hebrew for "you will fear" or "you will be afraid," possibly in imperative form ("you shall fear"). Lyrics [ ] Yeah, bringing you another disturbing creation from the mind of one sick animal who can't tell the difference and gets stupified. Verse 1 I've been waiting my whole life for just one FUCK And all I needed was just one FUCK How can you say that you don't give a FUCK I find myself stupified, coming back again All I wanted was just one FUCK One tiny little innocent FUCK And when I feel like I'm shit out of LUCK I find my stupified, coming back again. {Read} {PDF EPUB} ~download Come Undone by Mila Hale "Undone" lyrics. I'm sorry, I let me fall for you I can erase you and forget you but I can't undo you You're the hand I can't hold, the words I'm not told when I'm lonely And I don't want you back, I just want to have what you took from me. Stars fade away they just crash into space Disappear from the night like you and I. Tell me where love goes when it's gone Tell me where hearts go when they go wrong Suddenly someone is no one I've come Undone, undone, undone. I'll come around again I know it's not the end But right now I've got nowhere to begin To begin. Tell me where love goes when it's gone Tell me where hearts go when they go wrong Suddenly someone is no one I've come Undone, undone, undone. Nothing but emptiness inside Love leaves a black hole where it dies How can I ever love again, I've come Undone, undone, undone Undone, undone, undone Undone, undone. MIAMI UNIVERSITY The Graduate School Certificate for Approving the Dissertation We hereby approve the Dissertation of Lara Chatman Candidate for the Degree: Doctor of Philosophy ____________________________________ Dr. Denise Taliaferro-Baszile, Dissertation Director ____________________________________ Dr. Lisa Weems, Reader ____________________________________ Dr. Sally Lloyd, Reader ____________________________________ Dr. Gwendolyn Etter-Lewis, Graduate School Representative ABSTRACT KEEPING MY SISTAS THROUGH THE STORM: COUNTERSTORIES OF AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN GRADUATE STUDENTS SEEKING GOOD MENTORSHIP IN TROUBLING SPACES AND PLACES by Lara Chatman The existing research on African American women graduate students on predominantly White college campuses often results in quantitative data that suggests that African American women are more successful at completing graduate degrees than their male counterparts. This suggestion often leads to a dominant narrative of success that fails to recognize the challenges African American women graduate students face as well as the sacrifices they make in order to graduate. Thus, the purpose of this study was to identify the challenges that African American women graduate students face in their pursuit of advanced degrees on predominantly White college campuses and to also identify what kinds of mentorship African American women graduate students seek, and find helpful or unhelpful as they navigate through stated challenges. Black Feminist Epistemology (Collins, 2000) and Critical Race Feminism (Wing, 2003) with a specific focus on intersectionality were used to structure the study. The experiences of 8 African American women who attended predominantly White universities for advanced degrees were recorded in interviews and personal journals. The data reflected 4 dominate themes, which included facing various forms of discouragement, lack of mentorship, painful perseverance, and racegender awareness.
