Review of the Taxi and Luxury Hire Car Industries Act 1995 Paper 7 – Radio Rooms Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources June 2006 Review of the Taxi and Luxury Hire Car Industries Act 1995 June 2006 This is the seventh in a series of discussion papers to be produced by the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources about the taxi industry. These papers will address issues that were identified during the work of the Taxi Industry Review Group established in 1999 to review Tasmania’s taxi legislation, as well as issues of ongoing interest. The purpose of these papers is to seek input on these issues from members of the taxi industry, through the Taxi Industry Reference Group, and other interested stakeholders. The issues in this paper are presented for discussion and do not represent Government policy. The work of the Reference Group and the input from stakeholders will contribute to a process of rewriting the Taxi and Luxury Hire Car Industries Act 1995 and making new regulations to replace the Taxi Industry Regulations 1996 and the Taxi Industry (Taxi Areas) Regulations 1996, proposed for 2007.
